Fishing with Candi, not the confection. 7/21/20
Another 2 hour trip with Miss Cuonthelake and what a short morning we had. She had been in for sometime because of the scare that is going on in our nation and taking care of her puppy and needed a morning out to get fresh air and recharge.
She told me that she needed a haircut really bad and hadn’t been out because of the COVID-19 so I told her that I had scissors in the boat and would give her a free haircut. Can you believe that she turned me down? Lolol.
We hit our offshore structure long before daylight and after placing the marker and getting boat in position to present our lures, we both made our first casts. I scored first on the first cast, but she caught the next three fish while I manned the net and straightened out my line that somehow got tangled around the tip. Do you think that she waited on me to get organized again? No, she just kept on fishing.
Candi may have had a slight edge on numbers , but I caught the big crappie of the day (14 7/8”) and the most shorts (3-1). She did get the only spotted bass today, but we released it along with the tarp sized crappie that I caught. Candi had no crappie at home, so we kept 9 keepers for her to eat.
Water flow was 12,900 again this morning and the very good rain showers that we had yesterday afternoon cooled the lake by one degree and was at 84.5. Still bath water warm. We had 10 quality crappie and they were caught on 3/32 oz jigs with Bobby Garland Baby Shads in Blue Chrome, Lights Out, Ghastly minnow, and Hologram Ghost.
We were off the water before 8:30 am. I’m catfishing tomorrow with Leon and 4 year old Bentley.
