I moved the engine around some today, while hanging from a lift. Painted it, had it outside in the sun too help it dry.
Just noticed a puddle on the ground, fluid coming out of a hole? Weep hole?
Do I have bad seals? Did I overfill lower unit?

Looked at it today, nothing. In the paint prep process, I had washed it, and possibly got water around the power head. I wonder if it is a weep hole?
It's sitting outside again today.
It is a weep hole. It's function is to prevent water from being trapped and potentially freezing. If you see oil coming from there, it's leaking from the top of the lower unit and migrating out the weep hole.
Where is vent plug for lower unit oil ? Isn't that it, isn't that hole threaded ?

Not necessarily. 2 strokes drool a lot of oil, it's not unusual to get some oil dribbles out of the lower unit.
Those holes are there to drain all cavities of the lower unit and prevent freezing. On the Merc that I used to have, you had to trim it up and then down to get all the water out.
Drop the drain plug (leave the vent installed) and take an oil sample, see if it's milky or has water in it. Usually, if oil is getting out, water is getting in. I had trouble with this on my Merc as well, the shift shaft seal was the culprit.
You are correct. But the exhaust on that design keeps the exhaust away from the area that feeds the weep hole. If it's unburnt fuel, it should be drooling out the exhaust. Oil from the weep hole is usually a shiftshaft but can be a bad driveshaft seal puking oil as the lower unit fills with water. ( Water being heavier than oil, it will push all the oil out if the leak is on top)Quote:

I did not remove the lower unit . It stayed intact, during the painting process.
The only time this engine has seen water in the past 15+ years, was I ran it (on muffs) last year, and when I washed it the other day. And rain, during those 15+ years.
That's why this struck me as odd.
If the fluid is oil, you have a problem

Pull lower unit ,and attach pressure pump at 8 psi and see.
