Zebco and Beetle Spin - they catch everything!
beautiful place, great video, awesome fish .:ThumbsUp
Huge warmouth, I like'em like that!
Really awesome looking place to fish! Congrats on a nice mess of fish!
use a beetle spin a lot but usually with curly tail grub which ketch's everything, crappie, bg, bass and catfish.
I fish with a Beetle spin quite a bit on the Waccamaw River here in SC. It looks a lot like where you made your video.. Great video.. Nice fish...
Great video with some really nice fish. What got me interested is the boat, superb for fishing areas like that. Need more info if anyone knows about it.
Those are some huge warmouth bass - quite a bit bigger than most we have around here. I have found that the 1/32 oz. beetle spin is a great search lure for bluegill in that you can fan cast it and fish it pretty quickly, or even troll it behind the electric motor if searching open water. Once I find them though I usually switch to a 1/64th oz. beetle, or now most likely a trout magnet. But with a population of eating sized warmouths the beetle spin is probably the better choice.
What kind of camera mount are you using?
If you like beetle spins, Check out the Bett's spins. Bett's site is kind bad, so I'll link from a retailer (no affiliation with either) Betts Split Tail Spin | Sportsman's Warehouse
I like them better than Beetle spins because the arm that holds the beetle doesn't allow as much movement of the jig, which helps me when tying a palomar knot. The body of the lure is smaller diameter, and the plastic seems more lively, especially in smaller sizes where the beetle spin becomes more of a grub spin.
One thing's for sure about these baits -- you use what you've had good success with. I've had success with both, but prefer the bett's. The bett's also come with the spinner attached to the jig, whereas with Johnson beetle spins, you have to attach them yourself (not a huge issue, but it's a convenience). I also like the color choices so much better with Bett's vs what feels like the same colors from Johnson for 40+ years.
I'm thinking about switching out the plastic beetle for a small 1/64 oz. feather jig. I seem to be getting a lot of hits on the beetle spin, but it might be a little too fat for them to get it in their mouths at the speed I'm retrieving it, the lighter jig will allow me to slow it down some.
