Hello Chaunc, been a while. I don’t know much first hand but opinions I’ve read are good. Last longer, lighter and charge faster. My understanding is that they have to have a charger dedicated to that type of battery. Cost is high but they are touted to last as much as 3 times longer than anything we have these days. Looking forward to see what your post reveals. Good fishing brother.

However I have been doing homework on them.
Very good thread on bass boat central, sticky.
Problems when using at colder temps, ie 38 degrees or so.
I know that’s not cold for you, that’s why I mention it.
I believe in 5-10 years we all will have them in our boats.

I bought an amped outdoors 30Ah battery and so far like it a lot. Stays cool, light weight can mount anyway and charges easy with recommended charger. I read that lithium when treated right should last 10 times as long as regular batteries. Not sure if that’s true but I’d compare them to light bulbs and lithium being the led vs. incandescent. And yes they are the future.
Interesting on cold weather, hopefully I won’t have any problems this winter. We shall see. They sale to a bunch of ice fisherman so I would assume wouldn’t be a problem.
Chauncey, like Redge said best go to BBCand read about them. Lots of guys over there run that brand and have since they came out. Probably find all the info your looking for. That seems to be most popular brand for those guys.

5 yr warantee, 10 yr expected lifespan depending how you take care of them. Good for 2000 to 5000 cycles of charging. Had them for 3 months now and love them. I use 2-100 amps in parallel for my 12 v. Powerdrive v2 MK and primarily long line jigs and troll cranks. Fish 6-7 hrs at a time of continuous running and don’t have to charge them except after 2-3 times of fishing. I am only using about 23% of the batteries on constant trolling, each time out. For my electronics, I have a mega 10 DI+ g3n For my mega 360 and a 7 Mega DI G3n fOr charts and 2d/DI. Also a gps heading puck, and at the back, a 9 mega SI g2n and everything networked using a Ionic 50 amp lithium. I get 2 days of fishing out of it before I charge. The Ionics come with a phone app bluetoothed to each battery. When charging,,it shows temp of the battery, how many hrs/minutes to charge fully, the percentage it is charged at, the amps your charger is charging into each battery, the balance of all the cells of each battery, the volts of each battery output, also the cycles you have charged each battery. A cycle only counts when you have charged your battery from 0% to 100% a full time. It keeps track if you were to charge only 25% to full...that is 1/4 of a cycle till that charging cycle reaches 100% for a fully counted cycle. When running the batteries,,the phone app will show everything as previously stated but will give you the hours and minutes of power left as your using it. It will show the amps your electronics or trolling motor is pulling. How many volts It’s real time using. Yes,,expensive but the phone app Ionic has is worth its weight in gold as to gage your performance and needs. No mess and weight wise..the 50 is 17 lbs, the 100 amp is 27 lbs. I will never go back to wet cells and the pain of maintaining them. Boat wise,,had to lower motor 1.5 inches on my g3 1648 jon as it sits higher in the water with a 200lb loss, take off way quicker,,gas consumption is less with less weight, speed increase of 1-2 mph. Tons of bass tourney fishermen are using 2-50 amps for their 24 v trolling motors as well as 3-50 amps for their 36 v trolling motors fishing 8-10:hr days/tourneys. And 125 amps for their big motors and electronics. Here is a good read. Who wants lithium?
One other thing,,I swapped the 50 amp for one of the 100’s a while back. Hooked the 50 to the 100 amp in parallel for the trolling motor. Used the other 100 amp for motor and electronics. Using a 2 bank charger and watching the phone app to learn,,,,as the 2 batteries charged,,the charger would feed the 50 less amps to charge and more amps to charge the 100 amp as the BMS of both batteries equalized the charge equally even in the time it took to charge both as well as equalizing the percentage of charge that was in each battery. As I used the 2 batteries trolling,,the BMS of both IONIC’s equally displaced the amperage output to where the percentage of usage was also equal. For example. If I had used 79% of the 100 amp,,I also only used 79% of the 50 amp. The BMS of a good made lithium battery will equalize your amperage and usage even if they are 100 amps each hooked for 12 v or 24 v usage. Same goes for 36 volts if using 3 in series.
I see that they offer one battery that is rated 24v 50 amp. Can this be used for a 24 v trolling motor to replace 2 12 v batteries?

Yes, but you need to use a 24 volt charger to charge it. Same goes for their 36 volt single battery, need a 36 volt charger of which they sell both.

If you need to,,you can use lithium batteries,stacked on their sides, or upside down, or on their ends,,,or upright same as you mount wet cell batteries. They work no matter how you place and mount them wired up.
I've been using 2 50 amp ionic lithium batteries on ultrex 24 volt 80 lb trolling motor for the last 6 mos. Just got in from the camp fishing 3 days spider rigging and single poling 5-6 hrs per day. Did not charge the 2 trolling batteries at all. After seeing this post, I checked them with the app. Not sure where they were when I started, think about 88-90 %, but one is at 75% and the other is at 77%. I need to replace a dedicated electronic battery soon and will definetly go with another ionic lithium. Size, weight, ease of charging, usable time between charges, app to monitor battery condition, I recommend them.
If I use one for the starting and electronics, would my 90 four stroke Honda produce enough to keep it charged or would it harm my alternator? I know they use special chargers for them.Quote:

I would check the manufacturer's recommendation on the brand your looking at for charging. Also, good question about the alternator for cranking battery if you go lithium.

Please be careful with chargers. If not rated for the right chemistry you can have a fire with intensity and temperatures you can’t believe. We use lithium with RC electrics, and one member barely saved his house. His charger had multiple options, but he had it on lead acid battery.

On the Ionic,lithiums, I use a NOCO 10 amp lithium battery charger and also a a 2 bank ProMariner ProSport 20 amp set to charge Agm batteries that charge my lithium trolling batteries to 100%.
But will it damage my alternator? That’s my biggest concern now that I have all the other needed info.Quote:

I know nothing about lithium batts. I am familiar with Banchee as I use their agms on our 4 wheelers and lawn mowers. No probs.

A lot of the bbc guys using lithiums for starter batteries that fish tournaments, use a jump starter as a backup especially if they have all their boat electronics hooked to their starting Lithium battery.
