Got too busy attending others chores. Figured the gills would be bedding or close by but I just kind of fizzled out. Been fishing Dogwood in my dad's 65 year old boat which looks the part. Got a nicer big boat but it's allergic to stumps and doesn't fish any better than the tin boat. Weeds were over taking DW making it hard to target spawning areas last time I was out. Was considering trying out the river but it is now muddy and on the rise which is great for trot liners and netters for channels. We had a trip to the northern big waters planned but spouse's are discouraging that trip now. I did fish our old pond Sunday and landed some skinny crappie and a few bass. That and mowing will have to entertain me for now.
Been fishing Mississinewa the last few weeks, but I am sure it is gonna be a mess now. May have to stay up north on the natural lakes. They get a little color, but never as bad as the reservoirs.
Friend of mine was launching on East Fork at Shoals and catching very nice smallie up to 2.5 lbs before the river muddied. Once they spawn out,,they get alittle harder to locate. Might be time for me to check a few spots on main lake of Monroe before the pleasureboaters get out. At least it won’t be too muddy.
I went to Cataract Monday afternoon. The lower section below the cut, was pretty muddy with tons of floating debris. Above the cut on the dam side was pretty much normal looking.
Neither side wanted to give up many fish for me..
Today it is showing up 12.1 feet so I'm sure the water has changed significantly.
Sally and Missy at summer pool and rising rivers at flood stage
I was at Lemon yesterday part of the lake was pure mud and debris floating everywhere. Fished the channels near the island and ended up with 34 keepers but it took me ALL day to do it. Caught most of them on black and blue chrome pico’s

Raccoon was normal looking up by dam and just south of US 36 bridge but there was a big mud line moving moving from bridge toward the dam yesterday.. by today more then likely up toward dam or there.. they were not pulling any water so it was moving slow.
Didnt fish just drove out to see what lake looked like.
Been running to Chicago area the last 2 days and I think everyone around the Crown Point area over to Frankfort IL. are fishing in the corn fields. Seems like every low spot is full of water. OH and it ALL looks muddy
Yes it is I caught one big female that had already spawned and several with very small egg sacks. I have a question for you chuck I caught what seem like a hundred 5 to 7 inch black crappie is this something that was stocked or is this just a good year class?

Good year class as Indiana does not stock except when the drain a lake and rehab it. I noticed in catching a lot of small 6 to 13 inch bass at Lemon also. There is a good diversity of yearly hatches of large mouth bass in the various sizes. The bass tourney guys always seem to catch a few 7 lb bass every year. Lemon is healthy. You need to study the east end and the headwaters of Lemon as the bio diversity Is there as well as shallow water fishing that very few fish. Lots of old canals around the houses on SE corner next to the creek that dumps into it. Lemon is also full of yellow perch.
In,fishing muddy water,,with the water temp in the 60’s..try your oranges, chartreuse, Bright yellows, blacks,, and mixes of those colors in Muddy water. Orange and bone, might work also.
Right now,,stay where your catching fish, when you get the urge to explore,,check it out.
I pretty much stick to the Kankakee, but it's high, muddy and way to fast to effectively fish from shore now...even the feeder creeks are high and muddy...might be time to play with chatterbaits and wait for the river to stabilize.
Wondered if you were still around Fishaholic
Haven't seen you on puzzles for a long time
