what broke on it? theres a guy goes by fishinwrench on oa and other local boards that you might talk to. he may be interested in 1) fixing it for you or 2) buying it for parts depending on whats up.

Thanks. I'm trying to hold out for a 2 stroke as I don't want the extra weigh of a 4-stroke. Fishinwrench diagnosed by issue. Not wanting to spend 1000 to 1400 to fix a 20 year old motor with a ton of usage. Hoping to find one with less usage to replace it, but that is proving difficult.
I got a yahmaha 25 four stroknlast year new. It was electric start it was about 4000. It weighs 125 pounds. They made improvements since I had my last 25 a few years back. It also has a way to get rpm down to troll with it
This is proving to be a difficult challenge. I'm beginning to think I'm looking for big foot, a unicorn, are a decent duck lease. All things I've heard tell of but never seen.
well honestly, the vast majority of used motors are on boats. you may have to buy a boat to get the motor.
I was a 2stroke fanatic until I bought a 4 stroke Tohatsu( which also makes the Mercury engine) . Sweetest running engine ever and not much heavier than a 2stroke.
Not much reason to buy a 2stroke anymore. A new 20 Tohaftsu is very reasonably priced too.
Looking hard at the yamaha 4 stroke Gizmo. Prolly order one tomorrow.
They use Yamaha 20 hsp 4 stroke where we go in Canada. With electric start. They run good. They are very quiet. 3 yrs ago we had to get a new jet motor. Got a 4 stoke 60/40 Mercury. It is quieter than our other old motor. Love not having to mess with oil. We just take it to the shop yearly to get oil and filter changed.
