Also made a trip to grizzlies today and got 18 foot power trollers and 14 foot power trollers new line counters and some new bandits and arkies, come on crankin season.
Try pullin cranks they said, it will be fun, fun yes, expensive VERY.

Pulling cranks doesn't need to be as expensive as some say or promote. I started with nothing but spinning reels a few poles and a handful of arkies, bandits and a couple of Berkeley's. Cast a to my designated foot of line out by eye and pulled with a 40 hp Yamaha 4 stroke with no trolling plate. Average speed 1.8 to 2.2 mph and caught tons of fish. My catch rate hasn't improved much over the years, but thousands have been spent on boat, electronics, rods, high end cranks and etc.
To any reading this as a beginner, man just go have fun and catch a few fish with what you have! It's not a race or who has the biggest or most expensive collection of toy's. It's all about the enjoyment of getting out and trying to catch a few fish.

lol Snubby, we started with a 16x50 flat bottom boat with a 1989 60hp motor and bass rods and bait casters out the back in my slow trolling racks and some bass baits. Built some customs racks to run off side of front and would lock hand control trolling motor down and steer with big motor, when we went into wind we had to throw the bucket out. Bought a 2012 pontoon and caught a bunch of fish last year with the 90hp idling and an happy troller at times, 2 mph is as slow as it would go. Have different rods now 16 foot, and 12's and 7's with custom made road holders pulling out of the back. Sure like the top on the toon. lol But me and the wife caught around 3,000 fish last year and you know the ratio of keepers in that. A lot of reeling.
Wasn't passing judgment by any means. I'm hoping the setup works well for you and the misses! Hopefully you didn't find my comment as derogatory or belittling. I understand we all start from somewhere in the beginning and work our way up as we see fit. Just hate the thought of any new comers getting discouraged in the way of thinking they need high dollar gear to get started pulling crankbaits. Heck no I understand, most of us started with way less than we have now. I was just making your point as well, you don't have to have all the latest and greatest to catch fish. Use what you have and get out there have fun and catch some. Keep what you can eat and leave a few for seed.
I started in the 70s with old school Bombers and Hellbenders, one rod tucked between my back and the seat while I ran the tiller Johnson 25.
