Putting a Terrova on my pontoon, not sure if I'm going with an 80 or a 112, to pull crankbaits. Is anyone running either of these motors and does anyone run the lithium batteries, if not how many hours do you get out of your deep cycle batteries?

I have a 112 on my pontoon and it moves it around just fine. I haven't tried my 80 on it so I don't now how it would do.
You running regular deep cycle batteries?
I ran the Ulterra 112 for 3 years and with Group 27 lead acid batteries and I could pull cranks for 8 hours before dead. I know have a ultrex 112 and moved up to group 31 Duracell deep cycle so I expect to get more time.
This is on a Lowe 195 stinger and a lot of people ask why I went 36v and the big motor. Besides pulling cranks for crappie I fish the big rivers for cats and back bounce/control drift and the current ate the juice in my original 24 volt system in a couple hours.

I ran a 80 lb terrova with two group 31 deep cycle batteries, fresh and in a calm day it would pull my 18’ ranger around for 8 hrs, throw in a good breeze, they’d die in 6hrs, I hear lithium is the way to go but boy their proud of them
I'm running a 112 Ulterra w/ 72" shaft on a 19 Lund deep v. I'm running 3 55 amp hr lithium batteries and can them for 10 hrs and still have 75% left. I bought them from Amped outdoors.
Not to highjack the thread, but are any of the Lithiums made in the USA?

Bighornrmk, so you are running three 12volt batteries, what did you pay for those, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks
Slowhand, I did a little research and I think some are, but not sure.
Friend of mine run’s a 112 on a 21/70 Blackhawk and he pulls cranks and long lines up to 10 hours a day in all kinds of weather. Runs 3 golf cart batteries at about 150.00 or so each. So for price of one lithium you could buy 3 batteries and a charger. Plus with lithium you have to have a special charger which is quite expensive.
Dakota Lithium is made in the USA. But they are obscenely expensive compared to other brands.

Who wants lithium?. Good read on Lithium and usages of them. I really like the phone app Ionic Lithium battery’s comes with..gives you all kinds of info as you use and charge your battery’s.. Contact DrewTick is his user name on BBC for a discount on the Ionics. Drewcraft_LLC_Home_Page - Drewcraft LLC. I go sometimes 2-3 days of hard fishing before I charge my lithiums.
But...your lithiums May last 10 to 15 yrs if you take care of them. And,,never check water,,have a constant user voltage till u use the amp..not like when you have used 50 % of a wet cell and your dropping voltage as you use the battery up. Charges quicker..less than 1% drop in voltage if you store them during winter,,as you will loose 30% or more when you store wet cells. Prices are dropping on lithiums...here is a dealer I considered. way lighter in weight means also less gas burned as you run the big motor. Faster takeoff if that is what your after.
Here’s a good article on Are Lithiums worth the price. Good read. Lithium batteries....worth the price?
Ceavans, that is some great information and I am looking at the 36 volt 50 ah batter for a new Terrova 112.
If you do your research and are a little handy it is pretty easy to put together your own lithium ..... a LOT cheaper than the drop ins are being sold for. There are TONS of benefits to going lithium. It can be argued even at the high price for the drop in's that they are cheaper over time.
I am going all-in with lithium .... That I make myself for 1/3 to 1/4th the price. just not sure I will do the starting battery til I figure some more things out.
dodgeman I sent you a PM
Cevans, the amped up site has a 36 volt 60 ah battery with charger for $1,299.99
BobB, building your own, tell me more? Sounds interesting.
I think the Miller techs are lithium iron phosphate and are 4-5 lbs heavier than lithium ion. Good battery tho. Before all the trade shows got shut down,,looked hard at them. I think they also have a led lighted meter in the top that gives how much of a percentage of the battery power is left as you use it. That Would be great to have also.
I think most if not all these drop in lithium batteries are now lithium iron phosphate .... If it's not, don't use it. Those early lithium ion batteries gave lithium a bad name when they burned up boats. Those cell phone batteries that catch on fire are lithium ion.
With the lithium iron phosphate chemistry it is virtually impossible to have a thermal runaway situation.
One of the problems is that some of the people selling them use the terminology interchangeably. They will call it a lithium ion .... when it actually is a lithium iron phosphate.
I have located a 24 volt battery from amped up and they are 46 pounds and 80 ah it is 20 3/4 inches long and 8.1 wide and 9.7 tall. Seems long what do yall think?
Greenwing we hope to hear your report.
Doesn't seem too long for a 24V battery .... got a link to it?
Ordered today from AmpedOutdoors. Shipment noticed today as well. Very great service.
Cool, I did as well. What did you order Dave?
I bought a 30Ah battery with charger for electronics. I’ve actually had my eye on them for a while now.
SuperDave What electronics are you running
Nothing right now. Just getting ready. Heard tonight though that where my wife works they laid off several people because their main customer is closing due to virus so no demand for product. Have plans to lay-off more. Think I’m gonna wait before ordering anything else. But I have a battery now......lol
Received my battery. Notice in top corner lithium iron phosphate.

Q - Where are LiFePO4 Batteries Made?
A - All lithium batteries and components are made overseas. You often find companies who advertised Made in the USA, but in reality, they are only assembled in the USA with 100% sourced products from overseas. We also built custom products in the USA but will never call them "Made in the USA". Out ISO9001 facilities will produce a safer, most efficient, and consistent product every time.
Dave .. what are the dimensions and weight of that battery ??
Superdave336. Get a battery monitor if you don’t already have one. Check this thread out and a short video in one of the postings. Battery Gauge. :cheers2
