Old motor was 13 years old...figured best to replace it before it completely died....got a new Mercury 150 HP 4 stroke....supposedly, better hole shot, more speed, better MPG...we shall see...got a 5 year parts & labor warranty....so, I've done my part to help jump start the economy...

Congrats on the new motor. Mine bombed out at ten years old, had it rebuilt and it bombed again at 13 years old. Now I'm motorless but looking. I figure a decent used one would do me for another 5 years and then I'll probably be finish fishing. I can't seem to find anything in the 70 to 90 hp range, but there are a bunch of larger ones at good prices.

Congrats on the new motor Bruce. I just finished the break-in on my new 115 ProXS 4 stroke... but still haven't opened it up yet. I can honestly say... I am thoroughly impressed with it so far.
I want to be especially patient during the break-in. This one's going to have to last me the rest of my life.

Just read my owners manual for breaking in....for the first 2 hours it said to "run at varied throttle up to 4500 rpm, and at full throttle for one minute every 10 minutes"....I did that today and can tell you that after "break in" I don't think I will be running wide open much....this 150 motor is much faster than my old 150....hole shot is much better....Quote:

Runs fast and quiet....throttle and steering feels a little different but not a problem...much less trim is required...hole shot is quick....Didi and I put 1.6 hours on the motor our first trip....covered every corner of Henderson...I can tell you that I will not be running wide open....my new tach will give me tons of info...engine coolant temp, oil temp, oil pressure, battery voltage and water pressure...Quote:
