Sadly, about 99% of crappie rods and reels are made in China.
I think Plano tackle boxes are USA made. I would like for these deadly flu viruses to stay in China.

Bring it home! I will gladly pay more for American made products. Can't believe we have supported a communist country for as long as we have.
Just checked the fishing line I use is made in China. Sure hope BPS starts having their line made in the USE
I'm all for "made in the USA". But please don't take this thread politically sideways y'all. tanks
The sad truth is most all of the tackle is produced in China. We have a voice. As painful as it may be STOP buying anything produced in China. Our message will be heard loud and clear. Seek out American made products, this applies to all items, household, appliances, etc. It will take time but I can see a day when America is back in the manufacturing business. We made China an economic powerhouse, it's time to knock them down a notch or two.
Good luck with that...let me know how it goes. I don't like it anymore than anyone else but I seriously doubt that the USA will go down the same road as Japan is going down. A lot of Japanese fishing gear...while made for the Japanese Domestic Market...or JDM...is made in China.....the Japanese government will now pay Japanese companies to move out of China...not necessarily back to Japan...but to get out of China. I could be wrong but I fully expect many Japanese companies to comply with this. A lot of fishing gear is made in Vietnam....Malaysia...Indonesia...Thailand. Only time will tell how all of this shakes out and I fully expect in the end many things we currently get from China will be brought back to being made in the USA.....or maybe some other country. But I don't think fishing gear is going to be on that list.
Regards
And another thing. The fact is, because one company went to china, all the others had to follow suit because otherwise they could not stay in business and compete. So having said that, give our companies time to get out of china. I'm sure they don't like their stuff being made there either. Like I said that, it's just because they had to go there to compete like everyone else. It's the guberment that shoulda made it harder to be profitable by going there. Shoulda been a polution tarriff or something like that. Did I say that, dang, I love capitalism. OK, stop the politics slab, otherwise G gonna move this thread....doh
Alpha hawk, I disagree with your last statement. I believe that you soon will see incentives for American companies to come back home, including fishing equipment companies. The first that needs to come back is pharmaceuticals...... followed by crankbaits. ;-)
Keep it in the [emoji631]

The move out of the U. S. war largely to expand profit margin . There are things to entice folks to stay /comeback , but our hourly pay scale for job done is crazy compared to what China pays . I remember my dad saying what will bring this country down is every parent wanting their kids to have it better than them . We are to the point kids have no desire to work . You ask seniors in high school the #1 reason to go to college ? They will tell you so they do not have to work Hard . "Education should prepare you to work, not keep you from it" . :twocents
USA companies moved production to China, the retail price in the USA stayed the same. The CEO's got a big raise and the employees got canned.

Pharmaceuticals would be a prime example. They charge a very high premium for medications that they import for dirt cheap. With robotics and industrial automation what it is today all but the most complex movements can be done by a robot saving cost in manufacturing and producing an affordable domestic product
Good thread !
Slab - would it pay to start a sticky, for American made tackle companies?
In my opinion pharmaceuticals are an absolute must to be brought back.
Anyone who buys any food product made in china is truly nuts. They have no standards refuse to allow our ag inspectors in their filthy plants. Walmart was huge driving force to lower costs and encouraging mfg to move to china, which would have old sam rolling in his grave but new mgt did.
best thing about this insanity is folks shocked into realizing how bad having too much of our mfg is in china. will be willing to pay more for that made in usa sticker.
With transportation cost, tariffs and taxes on imported goods the price shouldn't be that much more to produce in the United States
Good thread, I am going to pass on this one, Slab would kick me out of CDC. I do love this site.
On a completely different note, (typman kinda reminded me): Send your family here to "family friendly" crappie.com, get off fake book. We're made in america, crappie fishing is only an american thing after all. Heck, you want, I'd make you a separate forum just for your family if you think it would get used enough.
Haven't been on FakeBook in many years
I keep worrying this thread's gonna get political. Thanks for not crossing that line. We DO NOT need politics here. We want to be one big Family Friendly, happy, fishing family, please.
There’s going to be a vast majority of people ticked off about what goods will now cost if that happens, likely the same ones clamoring for everything to be moved back. I’m all for production being moved back here. All for it. I just don’t think a lot of folks realize just how drastically cost of living is going to jump if that happens, and how many of their “fun” expenditures will no longer be possible due to drastic increase in cost.
And before I get flamed, I am NOT advocating for keeping production of goods in China. The American people were sold out in the worst kind of way with all of that. Just making an observation.
I vote for cutting all ties with China... immediately,,,, period... and bringing all manufacturing including pharmaceuticals based in China back to the US and/or spreading it out more among our true allied nations.
If you want to buy, in the USA, there is Gamma Polyflex Panfish line, which is a copolymer fishing line that is made in Oil City Pennsylvania. Gamma Fishing, a division of Black Knight Industries - powered by Pro Sites Unlimited Have nothing to do with the company. There are also places that sell this fishing line.

Made in Fruitland Park Florida, USA. Just sayin'
Made by hand by me, bottled by daughter, and sometimes Billbob, and bagged up by mom (89 years old). Family owned and operated.
That's funny!!!
