Madigan and Lightfoot will be along shortly and tell Pritzker what to do.Quote:

No politician waits to announce GOOD news.
:twocents
Not picking at y’all I promise, but I have a question. Why do you stay? You’re surrounded by red states. If Memphis all of a sudden started running TN I’d leave. (If I could convince my wife)

Job/Grandchildren
Plan was to visit various red sanctuary possibilities this summer and the next.
Current events changed that for the time being.
Just 3 or 4 more years and Hellinois will be in the rearview mirror.
TN is on the short list.:biggrin
I get the grandkids. They need to leave too.

I left Illinois in 2014 and moved to Tennessee. We’re about 12 miles from the town of Paris, TN.
I think half the folks in my neighborhood came from Illinois. I came from around Belleville, the lady next door came from Bloomington, the guy across the street is from Pekin, and another guy 3 doors down is from Taylorville.
Come on down, just don’t bring any Illinois politicians with you. :biggrin
While I wholeheartedly agree that Illinois has some issues, most working class people stay here for the high wages and benefits. I too had explored the idea of moving to ''red" state but grandchildren, family, and friends delayed that. I pay $0 state income tax on my pension. Fuel and property tax are a completely different story. There is some good crappie fishing in Illinois south of I80. I made the majority of my nest egg here so I will stay and fish here. That is my 2 cents worth.
Let's keep the site about crappie fishing and not politics!

Bubbabeck - for now, your not paying taxes on your pension. That could very well change, come November 3rd. At the moment, there will be a question on the ballot, about changing the state Constitution, which will allow pensions / retirements too be taxed.
Big guy will probably nuke this thread shortly... surprised it's lasted this long... everyone has been civil..good discussion.

Outside of borrowing, there is not much left they can tax or add a fee to.
Interesting that they just asked for Billions for pension relief and unemployment relief from the Feds.
Guess which category had a larger $ request.LOL
It was my hope in starting this thread that our Governor Whom I have messaged Will decide to treat central and southern Illinois in a different manner than Chicago who has most of the disease. I think sportsman are smart enough and we are free men after all to be careful when we’re in the outdoors and some of my friends Are becoming depressed See you on the water soon hopefully God bless you all

I agree with your thinking and would probably be on the short end of the stick on a partial release.
This was a recent topic of discussion for some of us upstate guys.
The thought was to restrict certain counties around Chicago with high numbers while releasing those counties with few to no cases.
Being in a county that probably would be under a travel restriction, it was hard to press for the case to release those who could enjoy the outdoors while I would have to sit it out and watch.
Sounds noble and all and I really, really want to go fishing but I can see the logic in a partial release.
The last thing we need is to release a large carrier population into small towns with few resources.
That said, the perceived discrimination for certain area restrictions for containment purposes would hit the fan big time from a political view and I don't think they want to deal with the fallout.
Hopefully we will all be fishing soon.
Good Luck
Illinois leads the country in corruption and chicago folks don't even realize there is any other part of the state. my sister and her whole clan are in decatur area and started the move the STL area in a state that has common sense. Personally I wouldn't pay any nevermind to that delbert and go do what common sense seems prudent including hunting and fishing, which that person doesn't know anything about. Nothing more social distancing than being on your own boat or simply casting from the shore.
