Shakesphere ATS $26.99 here SHAKESPEARE ATS TROLLING REEL - Northwoods Wholesale Outlet
Okuma Magna Pro 15 $36.99 here OKUMA(R) MAGDA PRO MA 15 DX - Northwoods Wholesale Outlet
I have both...I like the Shakespheres better
Me and G are usually the same on everything. However I like the Okuma 15 way better than my Shakespeares. Don’t hold your breath thinking your gonna steal some on here . Most hang on to them until they fail , or ask nearly new prices for them . Better just order some new reels . Crankbait time here soon !!!
I have the Shakespeare reels and have had to problems with them but how to they compare size wise to the Okuma 15?? They both about the same size and weight?
I've got both ... used Okuma 15's and new ATS 15's ... and to tell you the truth, if I wasn't looking real close I couldn't really tell you which one was which when using them. Now as to whether they weight the same ... :dono ... but size-wise, they're pretty much exact.
I did get the new ATS's with the double paddle handles, not the single handle version, but that was personal preference for me. The Okuma's are the double handle version also. The only real difference between them that I've noticed is where the release button is on the reel : the Okuma's are right up next to the bottom of the line counter box, and the ATS's are about an inch farther down from it.
Pappy...both brands that I bought came with both handles in the box.
Bought 6 Okuma 15’s at Cabelas right before the pandemic shutdown for $19.99 + tax.
I bought my ATS reels at my local Cabela's, specifically because they didn't have any more Okuma 15's ... and I no longer have the boxes they came in, which tells me that there were no second sets of handles in those boxes. Not that I would have wanted them, but I certainly wouldn't have thrown them away. nonono
I do have a Okuma Magda 15DXT-T box & the schematics paper doesn't show anything but the double handle. I bought this one at Cabela's, too, but put it on my PST rod for cranks & don't use it for jigs, so I tend to forget that I have it since I don't Push cranks all that often.
That one Okuma & the two ATS reels were bought a couple years ago (4yrs ago or more :dono) and the used Okuma's I bought from Chucky were prior to that ... and he had them for many years before that. I remember him saying he bought them for around $25/ea back then, but can't remember where he said he got them.
So I guess my Daiwa 27 lc’s are out of the price range at $50 bucks each plus shipping.

Cheapest ATS 26.95. SHAKESPEARE ATS TROLLING REEL - Northwoods Wholesale Outlet
The differences between the Shakespeare ATS and Magda Pro DX reels are not enough to justify the $10 higher price of the Okuma. I have fished the Magda reels since 2009 and the quality took a dip when I bought the last batch in 2016. I could repair the older Magda Pro 15s but the latest reels I've received have cheaper internals than their predecessors and aren't worth the time or parts to fix something major. I've transitioned to Shakespeare reels for my dedicated crappie crankbait setups because I feel like you get the same performance for $27 vs. $37 having had both reels apart on the workbench. I did receive a dud ATS from Northwoods that had a bad counter out of the box and their customer service was awesome, receiving a new reel within two days of calling. I'd check Northwoods or Franks's Great Outdoors to see who ha the better price-Franks runs some good reel sales at times.
Hey,
Have never tried the Shakespeare's but have several Okuma 15 and 20's.....I get along good with them but I do like to store them(and some other reels) in plastic storage boxes during the off season to keep the dust out.Yes I have a couple times ordered from Northwood's but they gouge you on shipping cost to the point where I am no longer their customer.Their prices are great but the shipping cost are not.
i have used the Both quite a bit and feel the okumas are way better than the shakespeare. I gladly pay the 10.00 more for the Okumas . Never had issues with okumas . Both are cheap , but Shakespeare are REALLY cheap made , haven’t held up for me as well as okumas.
Are you selling the Daiwas?
I have an Okuma Magda Pro 30 on ebay for $35.00 Real good used condition. Used 1 season.

Just 1. I sold 5 on ebay this winter. I got my boat out of winter storage a couple days ago, and this was in it. I wanted smaller reels so I went with Okuma Cold Waters 203 size last summer.
