Think they get shut down this spring with the current events?
Would not put it past Pritzker to restrict personnel to save a few bucks.

Well we have all seen boat ramps that at least looked to have too many folks.
Quote:
While there maybe a couple hundred at the ramp or on the lake, they are more than 6' apart and not in confined spaces.
Not the problem.
No personnel, no facilities.
Mikef - you called that one !

That is the worst non answer ever.

With all due respect.
The answer is what I believe is the truth.
The legislation, law or policy is what governs the decision.
The current action, I believe, is under the guise for the protection of the personnel.
Without the onsite personnel, the facilities/parks close.
For what it's worth, I agree with your thinking, but logic and common sense is not what governs here.
Can you remember another time when Illinois parks and facilities had closures and/or restricted hours?
If so, do you remember why?
Think money.
Different reason back then but same result, no personnel.
I just call the balls and strikes as I see them, I didn't make the rules of the game.
We are on the same side.
:cheers2
I don't understand the lack of personnel. I cannot think of the last time I saw a state employee at a boat ramp. I've seen them mowing or doing other work, all more than 6 feet away.
It is a power trip for those in charge. Study history, people in power use any excuse to abuse that power if only temporarily. Those personnel probably will get paid by us the taxpayer one way or another. This is just total B.S. :banghead
Are they out of toilet paper ?
oops
On second thought

The staff always gets paid. I don't get the logic and don't think it has anything to do with cost savings. I do believe there is more to this virus then they are telling us. Which I find equally hard to believe. The Democrats and Republicans have been pounding each other hard since Trump won. If there was an opportunity to slam the other, we would know it. When they are on the same side, it makes me wonder why?
The swamp even agreed on a stimulus package in record time without meetings. That makes me nervous.
its only state park ramps. core of engineers ramps are open as long as you dont have to drive trough a state park. called indr and wilborn is open and will remain open. im going to rend this weekend and ramps that aren't in a state park are open
You are correct. It doesn't have anything to do with saving money. It has to do with staffing and maintenance. I don't know what the numbers are for staffing at IDNR Sites. But, the virus can linger for hours on hard surfaces So staff are going to have to be cleaning restrooms quite frequently. I work at a state university. We have a dozen facilities we are responsible for on a daily basis. All but two have been shutdown to staff and students (who are there only because they have nowhere to go). That way we are able to focus on two buildings to keep as safe as possible for the students still there, and the few staff who can't work from home. I'm not sure the risk at boat ramps is that high, but Pritzker is apparently taking no chances. Its also a way to possibly restrict the amount of people who are traveling.
As for the government not telling us everything, well, the next time they do will be the first time. I just think they are being overly cautious because of how infectious the virus is and how dangerous it is for such a large number of our population.
Just wait for Fridays news from Trump. It won't matter what's open or closed. :banghead
I'm glad the ramps are open since the Governor just shut down all travel in the state except for essential travel :banghead
Does pulling the boat to the lake count as essential travel ?!?
I think so but I'm afraid the police in all the small towns I have to go through to get to the lake might not.:Rofl
It is allowed. This was posted on March 23rd. Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police - Home | Facebook

They can ask my wife she says I live on the lake.
