So we now have internet at our house and looking to cut the cord but I don’t want to give up access to some good crappie fishing shows that I get with pursuit channel. Any recommendations on Hulu, Netflix, etc where I can still get fishing shows without getting my bill back up to what I’m paying now? Any help greatly appreciated

Whatever you do stay away from Dish Network. Horrible customer service.

We’re running Hulu live free trial now. Was hoping to not have to upgrade package I ll look at you tube tv as well thanks. No dish for us either. Been down that road prior to direct.

I left Comcast and got WOW! Internet, got Hulu and Netflix. Went from $330 a month to $125 a month. All the crappie fishing you can watch on regular YouTube! Richard Gene will show you all you need to know! Haha!

Brushpile fishing is on youtube. That is where I watch that plus Richard Gene. American Crappie Trail is on there as well.
We have Amazon Prime so I bought the Firestick for $40.
No monthly fees outside the Amazon Prime which I had already.
Some services like Netflix have a monthly service fee but Prime has more that I could ever watch.
Like others stated there are a zillion fishing videos free on U-tube.
I know everyone likes Richard Gene but for another great fishing video watch Steve Comalander on U-Tube. Very entertaining and unbelievably effective. He has put me on a ton of fish this past year.
Brushpile fishing promotes NKT.tv on their show. I’ve looked into it. I ended up just calling direct tv and arguing for 48 minutes and got my bill down over 80 percent.

Use the google app on your tv to access Brushpile fishing website. You can watch all of their shows that way. YouTube app has enough crappie fishing to watch too. All that costs $0.
You can get a Firestick or a Roku, I have both. You can download all kinds of outdoor apps or watch youtube shows on your TV. I'll never pay another cable bill. I keep Hulu or Sling during football and basketball season then cancel it.
Cut that sucker. I ain't found anything I can't watch. And yeah Russ Bailey is available.

We cut the cord a dozen years ago,partially due to finances,partly due to all the junk.I get my outdoor fix from U-Tube mostly,Hulu,and Pluto fill in the gaps.
We just got rid of Dish 2 weeks ago after 13 years. $113 a month, don't sound too bad but 13 years?? Over $17,000 for TV :dono What a waste. Have had both You Tube TV and Hulu Live. (Not at same time) My main thing was baseball so do a search on which one has what you want. Neither one has much for crappie fishing but like stated You Tube has all you need. I like You Tube TV better for ease of getting around and they have unlimited DVR but they dropped Fox Sports Midwest (Cardinals Games) 2 weeks after I got it, so switched to Hulu Live TV. They have a limited amount of DVR space but more outdoor shows. $5 higher than You Tube TV. Best thing is your only tied into any of them for a month at a time. Good Luck! I live out in the country and surrounded by trees on every side except east-ne side of house.. I do have DISH TV and internet but they suck big time, 200.00 a month last 5 yrs for the same crap over and over just on a different channel every month.Internet sucks also.
Any of you guys live out where hardly anything is available, no DSL available, no ATT wireless etc..
Have a 4k Smart TV but not getting much use out of it.. what if anything can I do to get rid of Dish?

Consider giving up TV entirely
I did it about 12 years ago and dont miss it at all.
Everything we need is available on computer including the good fishing shows.
If you have small kids or other small minds to deal with it might be a bit harder to pull off
We cut the cord about a decade ago.
We get roughly 15 Over the Air (OTA) channels.
Plus we subscribe to Netflix and Hulu and Amazon Prime. I spend more time on youtube than anything else. Careful with youtube though. You can intend to watch one 30 minute episode and 3 hours later you have to pee.
We are considering dropping Amazon as well. We're finding out they aren't lowest cost on products, and the expediated shipping is meaningless to us. We plan ahead.
Hulu here and we do like it, but it's an absolute necessity to have good internet connection. We experience brief interruptions occasionally and it can be a PIA while watching a ball game or other live event.
like others we have Prime and Netflix. Total costs less than half of what I paid to Direct. I think Direct is a sinking ship as AT&T, owns Direct, is now offering their own internet streaming service.

Wow thanks for all the responses. Yea we are currently doing Hulu live so I can watch sec basketball. We have one amazon fire stick and 2 roku. As someone mentioned we have younger kids so do keep some access to the world other than sports. However I’ve noticed with these services it’s even easier to keep an eye on what the kids r watching. I ll try you tube on the tv and see if that gets me all I need. Figured most everyone is looking to cut contract bull as much as possible. That’s my deal. Thanks guys

I've been wanting to cut the Dish Network cord for quite some time myself. If it wasn't for my wife watching so many of her favorite programs... I would settle for a basic package and buy channels when I needed them and cancel them when I no longer needed them. So, I would agree that it's a shame to spend $120 plus every month for some 150 channels and still spend night after night channel surfing through the same ole crap. I cannot wait until someone comes up with a network (internet or otherwise) that includes local programming that shuts Dish & Direct TV down as businesses. They have grown far too big; their customer service has declined more and more every year; and they certainly could care a less whether you are happy with the programming you get for your money or not... just so you keep on paying. My buyer's remorse with Dish Network is peaking, too... No Doubt.
Watching an NBA game now. We have all the channels Hulu offers including local ones. TNT tonight for basketball. Big 10, ACC and Southeast conference and CBS,NBC and ABC and ESPN. Hulu offers lots of sports
We got a Roku device and subscribed to Hulu Live last Oct. We've enjoyed it so far. Occasional buffering or other glitches but nothing I can't live with. More football than I can watch in one weekend.:) Shortly after, my wife found another streaming channel called "Frndly" tv. It's got 3 hallmark channels and 3 outdoor channels (Outdoor Ch., Sportsman Ch., and the Fishing channel. All this for less than $60, as opposed to $180 or so with Directv.

get 28 channels over the air these days, cut cable tv 5-8 years ago, have prime hulu and a few others, beats $180 a month now just the net for $50 I think. others are either free or cheap and could be dropped without problems
Firestick and will not go back to a monthly pay plan. I kept Dish to over 20 years and paid around 50 dollars a month for their cheap plan. Got the Fire stick and paid a one time cost of 55 dollars. I only pay an internet fee.Watch fishing shows and bull riding all the time Free. Lol
I would like to cut the cord on direct TV, too. But I am doomed! The wife will NEVER give up her soaps on the local networks and Hallmark. I watch encore western channel and the pursuit and sportsman channel.:dono
I see local channels mentioned here for reasons not switching. You tube TV and Hulu Live TV both carry your major local channels. At least where I am at.
Cut the cord last week. I have Rokku and others. Only problem most free streaming do not have major networks which have local news. Sling TV (cheapest) and Youtube may be best. Really good thread.
We cut the cord 2 years ago with Amazon, free for us with Prime, and Sling TV and an antenna for locals.
Dropped Sling when they dropped Sports South, gotta watch the Braves. Went with YouTube TV, very pleased. They have local channels, but almost dropped them when they were going to drop Sports South. They reconsidered, so did I. We also have Tubi, that has free movies and shows, but with commercials.

We have Hulu, as stated before, and we get local channels. Best to go to the different streaming channels website and get an understanding of what is offered.
It's like using a smart phone. The service offers apps for channels not associated with live programming. Can't imagine you can't get 99% of anything the cable or satellite services offer. Everything you want is available.
We live rural with no internet speed that supports TV. We have DISH and today I called and got my bill lowered by $75 a month for the next 12 months. Thanks for this thread!

I got youtube tv and dont regret it. great discussion. one day these cable companies will be begging for our business.
So we’ve ended up with Hulu, prime because we had an account and then roku Total bill for internet and Hulu is pretty well equal to what my direct tv but now we have internet and all 5 of us can find something to watch.
I knew this topic was important to me but happy so many people got something out of it.
