Just wandering where most of you Livescopers’ prefer to have your transducer mounted on the trolling motor or a separate pole? And what advantages or disadvantages one may have over the other?

Go to you tube and there is at least twenty very good videos on livescope transducer poles.
On trolling motor you might have to aim in a direction that you don't want in order to hold in wind. Turn it to see what you want and you lose boat control. Separate....look Where you want to and steer where you need. 1 inch pc fits nicely into 1.25. I got a t for 1 inch and glued it on end of 5 ft piece from lowes. Cut about a ft off other end. Then cut the ft into 2 pieces...a 4 inch and 8 to serve as handle. Cut about 18 inches off of 1.25.left enough for xducer. Ram mounts to attach

Check out my post
listed under "my homemade Panoptix mount.
You want it on a separate pole. You can't scan well with it on your trolling motor.
I use a pole mount from Fishing Specialties.
I tried it on TM but when using spot lock the pole is the wtg IMO.

This is my mount from Rickie at Podunk Ideas. It manages my Mega360(when it comes), myMega SI/DI transducer and Livescope. It folds back like a foot control trolling motor and is out of the way when I don’t need it in the water. WAttachment 364900Attachment 364901

I started out with mine mounted on my trolling motor but switched over to a Fishing Specialties Pole mount. The main reason I went with the mount I have is getting in and out of my boat, the lakes I fish are all flood control lakes and when they are at winter pool there are no docks. The pole is easily moved out of the way and allows me plenty of room at the front of the boat to get in an out.

This is a thread I started awhile back when I first got my livescope. #12 shows the mount that I made when using livescope in my jon boat. Maybe you can use this to get an idea of what you would like to do.
I prefer livescope on a separate pole. I can scoot along on high with the trolling motor and easily scan at least 180 degrees as I move. This gets me on target much faster that if I had to stop the trolling motor so I could make a sweep.
M R Dux, did you use the 0 degree mount or the original mount?
Think mine will work. The ram mount will either use the clamp for the rail on my jon boats and also connect to the ball on the Plano box.Attachment 364940

For the guys with a pole mount when pointing in direction of trolling motor how much lower in water does the transducer have to be so you are not blocking view????
Doug’s da’ducer apparatus[emoji768] is mounted with my prototype swivel base mount that allows him to deploy and stow anywhere along his Excel rail system ...
The swivel mount will be available soon on my website ...
I also have a fixed quick detach mount that allows complete removable of da’ducer apparatus[emoji768] and your attached xducers for storage and/or theft protection

Thanks to everyone who posted I went with the seelite pole mount and it works great. The pole is the way to go

I think he is referring to the actual LS transducer mount that is mounted to the pole. From the factory they come with an 8 degree offset to allow a clear shot around the TM head.
The recommendation for pole mounted units is to utilize a 0 degree mount which has to be purchased separately which offers a better sight picture of the sonar.

I used the included 8° offset that came with the LVS32 on Doug’s setup because he also wanted his MEGA SI xducer on the same da’ducer apparatus® ...

I did the same thing converting a wireless trolling motor to be a remote directed transducer pole. Old trolling motor given to me and the upgraded electrical power source was $12. That was the total cost.

Yeah, I want to share the way to mount a transducer on a boat by going through the hull. This process begins with the drilling of the hole for mounting the device. There is one small tip you have to consider: it would also help to drill counterclockwise first to avoid chipping the gel coat. Once the hole is deep enough, you can proceed to drill clockwise or forward. Apply marine sealant to the transducer gasket’s surface. Insert the transducer cables through the port before securing the device’s housing in the hole. Finally, connect the cable to the control console.
