Finally all my Nanofil lines arrived. I started of with my Tatula 1000LT with 8lb. I filled about 75yds of line (half spool). Do you think this is enough or I need more backing for maximum distance casting.
BTW this Nanofil 8lb is pretty weak compare to my 8lb Power Pro, but it is a tad thinner but smoother.
This reel gonna be used mostly for bass as well so I tried 8lb first. I might fill my Sahara with 4lb later.
Looks good to me for mono, nano.
Looks like plenty of line to me. Never used it but from everything I have read you sure better use a mono shock leader bass fishing or your going to break off a lot. Should get a lot more casting distance.
I always use flouro leader, but yeah, what Cray said. I love the super line, right up until I get a big wind knot snarled mess, then I swear off of it for an hour, but you can't hardly beat the sensitivity to a bite. Learn to tie the leaders using an Alberto knot is all I recommend. I can tie it quickly, on the boat, even. Can't do that with an FG knot - I can't.
I went out to try this reel and new line a little. It cast okay seem pretty smooth and very quiet. The line have a little bit of memory but no problem so far. I have a few time with the line not lay in spool correctly when reeling loose line. The major problem is, I think this line is really float high on the water, I lost contact with my lure if twisted hard enough. I’m really concern how the bite would feel when line float and make such a big bowl under water. I normally don’t watch the line but rather feel the bite. I can feel/sense bottom more on braid than this line. This is a bummer, too bad I didn’t get any bite to compare with other line.
Take some lip balm and work it into the knot , it should pull apart pretty easy.Quote:

Every few months I have difficulty getting leader knots to hold, and need to strip about 50 feet off the spool to get some fresh line. I've been using the same spool for almost 2 years now, so it holds up pretty well otherwise.
Have to agree, Nanofil has no abrasion resistance at all. It is stronger than I ever thought it would be. I don’t find the need for an FG knot for the leader, a double uni works fine. The only section of line I usually remove has been rubbed against a tree or gotten bound in the reel when I didn’t make sure it was acting right. For anything over 4lb I would go with a more durable braid, but for the light duty(2 and 4lb) I have gotten used to and like the Nanofil. If I can ever find more than a 50yd spool of fireline crystal I’m going to give it a shot. Too much good input on it to ignore.
I am going to try the 2lb Fireline Crystal too. The Nanofil seems to fray too much to suit me even though I have been using for several years and it does cast really good I want to try F C out. Seems the 2lb F C is hard to find on store shelves, may have to do an online order.
I can see some benefit of this line in 4lb for crappie after using in for a few time. First of it is cast further than comparable braid size. Yes it cast further than my 2500 size ci4 with 10lb braid given that Tatula only 1000 size. I can use a bit heavier jig head or keep my lure floating in strike zone a little longer since the line has more buoyancy. I always use leader so abrasion is not my concern at all, only to find which knot work the best. I’m using double uni knot for now if it can hold bass it should have no problem with crappie, time will tell. Also the line didn’t absorb water and pretty stiff compare to soft braid so no wind knot or tip wrap yet. Still my concern is how sensitive (have not caught any fish yet) and those little memory that make the line not lay on spool correctly when reeling slack line.
I think Nanofil and fireline crystal are similar in a lot of characteristics, Am I correct? How about compare to Sufix Nanobraid?

Went out this morning and got to see some potential of the line and the reel itself. The double uni knot hold up just fine, can’t comment on sensitivity just yet since this one was caught on paddle tail swimbait. I can’t wait for crappie to come near shore.

I had Gliss line on my spinning before, that line can get wind knot and once it happen you can say good buy to the line. I still have on one of my baitcaster. I actually like the line for sensitivity but it just frayed too easy.Quote:

cant wait for Tatula 2000 spool so I filled my Sahara 750 spare spool with 4lb nanofil. The distance is better than 4lb windtamer on legalis LT 1000. I got about 35-40’ (on Presso 5’6) which is fishable distance for me. I added top shot about 8-10’ with 6lb Fluorocarbon, the sink rate is not bad seem like thin line cut through water pretty well even the lure is pretty light. End up with 3 bluegills before I switch to roadrunner to find crappie. I started to like this line more.
Good report on the line, thanks for taking the time. I use the 2lb Nanofil most every trip where I’m casting, and this past Sunday was no different. Caught a crappie just under 15” throwing a 1/43 no frills jig. Once I used it awhile (the 4lb also) it lost some of its stiffness and casts better than when it first came off the spool. Hung up and brushed a branch on the way to get it out and had to retie. There’s a learning curve and personality but I haven’t found anything yet that does as well for me yet.
Have been using Nanofill ever sense it came out..Its says line equlivant..To mono..

We use 8 lb clear mist Berkley Nano fill which is Equlavent to 4 lb mono....10 lb Nanofill is equlavent to 6 lb mono.....
It Floats..Which is a plus for me crappie fishing..I want the lure in front of their face as long as possible....
We fish Deep,Rocky,Tangled Trees in gin clear Mountains Lakes..Where Fluorocarbon is a must...We tie a little backing mono to keep from spinning on the spool...Tie directly to lure or hook..Have tried all the nanofill don't know why? Fisherman I guess..Berkley in my opinion is the best..hate leaders..Fly fishermen.....Good fishing

This my personal opinion , braid floats and does not transmit feel on a slack line. There has to be tension between bait and rod . I have been a line watcher for many years , i don't rely on the line or rod for sensitivity . Using a spinning reel do not snap the bail shut,close by hand to keep slack or loops off the spool. As the lure hits the water i drop my index finger on the spool and then close the bail. Braid will get softer as its being used. Grate line , just have to get use to its little quirks, i use braid on 80 percent of my reels .

Granite, I have something to add to your statement. While braid doesn’t transmit feeling on a slack line, it will transmit on a line that isn’t pulled full right. Many times I have cast and it is my habit to put a finger on the line to stop it before closing g the bail. I have felt hits shortly after the jig hit the water, and as it was falling with hardly any tension at all. In the same instances with mono, the line hadn’t even lost its pigtail looking, shock absorbing memory. My point is that a braided line with little to no memory is so much more sensitive than any other that I have used.
Skeetbum , that is true once braid has been used for a while , i have felt that on some of the braid i have used. It does not need alot of tension to feel in your finger.
True to this ^^^^^^ many time I felt crappie hit my lure on the drop, I don’t let my lure fall on loose line but semi slack line. As mainly fishing for bass, I have developed the trust on rod and line sensitivity, 80% of my fishing technique is to feel the change/tension of the line and rod tip and 10% watching line, the rest 10 is pure luck lol. Oftentimes I even feel my 1/24 jig hit the rocks on bottom.
BTW finally my Tatula 2000 spool is arrived, this reel is super light and smooth, perfect fit for ultralight rod with only 5.8oz. The 2000 spool as I expect only 2mm bigger than 1000. I hope this 2mm can contribute to more distance (2000 for crappie, 1000 for bass). Now just wait for speedstyle S63UL from Japan to have some fun. I can’t believe I spent this much time and money on crappie and spinning setup. What I turn into?
