Hello all I’m new to the forum but I ran across a old post that’s closed while researching crappie bream hybrids. I caught 3 fish recently that I haven’t caught before and it looks to me like a crappie bream mix. I’m familiar with shell crackers and I’m pretty sure it’s not one. I say that bc that post I came across had several replies saying it was a shell cracker. Have a look and let me know. Caught 3 in a canal near my house in South Louisiana.

They are closely aligned with Bluegill and similar Sunfish. The one in the picture I posted came along with several Bluegill all caught in the same area.Quote:

This picture was the catch that morning. Bluegill, Flier, a Crappie here and there and probably another variety of sunfish.. In the end, they were all battered and fried and I doubt anyone knew which variety they had eaten, only that they were darn tasty!

Thanks to all. I didn’t eat the 3 I caught but I did release them in my pond
