Sorry to hear that. Sad
What’s up stream from there? It’ll be next.

Watts Bar then Ft Loudoun are upstream from Chickamauga.
Best I can tell, there's no stopping these things. Guess its time to start looking for a good helmet to wear when headed up and down the lake

If y’all haven’t experienced these things in the wild , I can enlighten you lol. We’ve been dealing with them in West Tn for 10 years now.
As far as getting hit at speed, I’d say 99% will jump behind the boat. Every now and then one will jump ahead but it’s rare. Don’t follow behind another boat in its wake, if you do you’ll regret it. Taking off and slowing down in shallow water is the worst in warmer weather. I have been hit at speed once in 10 years, turkey hunting and running boat to spot before daylight. Luckily it just hit my arm. They don’t eat crappie or their eggs. They eat plankton, which is what shad eat. One of these will eat what 1000 shad will eat. No food for shad, no shad, no crappie. There’s no getting rid of them, hopefully the new things they are trying at Ky lake will help. They’re actually really good to eat. I think it’s better than catfish. Real mild and firm. Get a bow and shoot them , it’s fun. The picture was in my old 16/48 Jon boat. I’m guessing it weighed 50+ lbs. Attachment 363761

Yes, the carp tastes ok. The West Sandy is mostly void of boats. Useta be 100's in the spawn season. I still fish here, mainly because I stays here and don't haveta pull a boat. Age has a lot to do with this or maybe I have gotten plum lazy. Take ur pick.
Doesn't sound good for fisherman, the fish populations or the local economies

It is likely that these fish traveled up the Tennessee River through navigation locks, ultimately finding their way to Chickamauga Lake. “TWRA has been working with multiple partners to limit the spread and impact of invasive Asian carp in Tennessee,” said Frank Fiss, TWRA Fisheries Chief. “This new observation demonstrates the urgency of the issue.” Silver Carp Confirmed in Chickamauga Lake | Facebook
Think they will get in Watts Bar? Doesn't it have a dam they can't get through?

Sad, Sad!!
Just sad that this has happened to these lakes and river.
I lived on Douglas lake for 12 years and fished some of these lakes and absolutely great quality fishing because of the work TWRA does.
Tennessee river will eventually have them up to Douglas and Cherokee lakes dams that have no locks. Sad just sad.

Unfortunately, it was inevitable.
All it takes is a couple females and a male to make it through. Ten years after that you’re screwed. No need and sugar coating it.
First one I heard of was in circa 2000 on a Mississippi River oxbow, Clear creek aka the chute. Caught good fish for about 5 years after then noticed it was dwindling.
It’s ruined so many places I’ve fished all my life. I despise the people that brought them here. I’m almost willing for TWRA to just poison the river to kill everything and start over. Only problem is you’d have to poison the Mississippi and all tributaries.
There really is no answer. A lot of people blame TWRA for not doing enough, but it’s an impossible situation.
When you’re jig fishing a couple years from now, and you see a cloud of fingerlings come by your boat that’s 50’ wide and a 100’ long, you’ll understand it’s an impossible situation.
