I get mine made up at Walmart....just take my prescription to the Wamart Vision Center and pick out what sunglass frame I want. I get my other glasses there too.
I need to get my eyes checked and get a pair for using livescope for sure .
My experience, hard to beat Costco.
Veterans who have VA coverage can use the VA. I get all my glasses there.
Nimrod, it's usually hard to see video screens with polarized glasses. The screens are very dark. Before you spend the money just for the purpose of looking at your screen you need to try it first with regular polarized sunglasses. I know I have to remove mine to view either my auto GPS or my fishfinder.

I have transitions, but that is not as good as polarized. I’m thinking of getting a pair this season with progression so I can see to tie my fumble finger knots as well! LOL

There's a trick to this. You can tilt your head to get a clear picture on you screen. Can't remember if you tilt left or right but it will either be completely black or perfectly clear.Quote:

Try a pair of the polarized fit over first and make sure you like them and they suit what you are using them for. They are cheap.
I have to have bifocals, so there is another challenge....
I wear trifocals and just got new glasses a few months ago. Priced polarized. In standard glasses 550.00 in Costas over 700. Went to Sam’s and got a nice pair of polarized fit overs for 38.00. They are ugly but so am I but they work better than I thought they would and not as uncomfortable as I thought they might be.
Wear transitions too. Had mine tested in December, and will be getting a new pair of glasses. Have always had mine tinted for glare. But this year will be getting just the glasses, which have a steel bar between the lenses. Then I will have 3 magnetic sun shields that I can use for different things, one is just for sun, second is for the computer screen, third forget what it is for. They claim the one pair works very well for fishing. The glasses and the 3 shields cost way less than getting the glasses and then having them darken when outside. Like $100 or so less.
I wear transition lenses, also. I paid the price and had Costa make mine. Like Cray said, they are pricey. However: the quality and comfort more than make up for it. If I wear my regular glasses I have to be real careful how I walk. Especially if I am going up or down stairs. With my Costa glasses I don't have that problem. Guess it's the curved lenses. Well worth it to me.

Yep, VA doesn't supply polarized lenses unfortunately. I use a pair of clip-ons over my bifocals with no difficulty. That is, until I decide to take a picture with the camera! Then I have to remove them if I want to see the screen. You get use to it.Quote:

I wear trifocals. I have a dedicated pair of sunglasses that are bifocals, polarized from LensCrafters (probably the same as Walmart or Costco with coupons) Just hate having to keep up with 2 pairs but gotta have them.

I will agree they don't provide them for free, (the Polarized Lenses), I did get mine from the VA at an additional cost. You have to request and pay for them at time of ordering them as they say they can't be done after for some reason. But you can order them any time up to a year after having the eye exam.I also had to have the optometrist put in my file I was required to use sunglasses.
I order all of my regular or prescription sunglasses from the online outfit Lensesrx.com. I typically purchase my frames off eBay and send them to them to install the lenses. I find it's much cheaper this way.
I've had a lot of different glasses and it's hard to beat the Costa glasses. Expensive but the best I've had.
Transition glasses sound good. At least now I can consider getting them this year now that my eyes are seeing fantastic after eye surgery to correct for strabismus - lazy eye. It's a condition where the muscles of one or both eyes cause misalignment and must be corrected using lens prisms that show up as a thickness at one edge of the lens. Past a certain point no prescription corrects for seeing distance clearly. Too bad I found out after so many years of wearing prisms, which all lense cutters couldn't correct - especially Walmart.
Now I can see tiny branches at 75 yards with lenses that are now thin and will be able to do so with transition lenses. Of course cataract surgery will be next in about 10 years when I'm 80.

I've been wearing Oakley wrap around perscription for the last 12 years. They are not cheap but are cheaper that Costas. I get mirrored, polarized perscription glasses. I've stuck with them since my military days when they provided glasses to us. They actually saved my life (or at least eyesight) so I owe them that! I have not had any issues reading any of my electronics units and actually like them better than my regular glasses as they are wrap around which affords me perscription vision in my periphrial sight window.
For the veteran, Oakley has veteran discounts. Additionally (and not many people know this) but, as of 2017, ANY U.S veteran can utilize the exchange online program to order ANYTHING that is sold in the Annex. This doesn't grant you the ability to shop in store however, it is a big step up and an added benefit that has not been publicly stated very often. Yoiu "might" just be able to find what you are looking for there.

My local optometrist was looking where he could get some accounts set up for locals here and so he picked up a couple of lines of eyewear. I wear a Harley-Davidson Brand wrap around prescription bifocal and costs couple years ago was 550.00, but this go around for new lenses with using the frames I had was 400.00 for the prescription. Your polarization will cost as much as 95.00 additional added into those costs. Wrap around for bifocals has to be somehow cut or created with being laser cut. Love the eyewear as they are perfect as bifocals can be. All of these have warrantees also if you decide to contact one of these companies. You have to use your prescription sent to them as well.
