Looking to buy better depth finder. Wanting to spend around 800-900 dollars. Read article on Lowrance Elite 7-9 TI2 with good reviews using overlay.
Wanted to get some opinions from crappie fisherman that use new technology.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've had Lowrance and HB units all my fishing life. However, my next unit will be a Garmin that can run Livescope. Then after I've saved enough pennies I'll get the scope transducer and box.
That's a chunk of change to this country boy so it won't be tomorrow.

I have a Lowrance Elite TI 12 less than a year old for sale. Comes with everything you need including transducer. It's posted in the personal classifieds.
Pretty subjective on which unit for your budget. Those are not top of the line units but perform pretty well. I use Humminbird and prefer them over Lowrance units. I could ask you a bunch of questions and we could go back and forth for days but my suggestion is call Brian at BBGmarine. Tell him what your budget is, where you fish, what you are looking for in a unit and biggie to me is mapping. He will shoot you straight and 95% of the time he is going to give you the best deal.

I have been a Lowrance man for 20 years until I purchased a Garmin Echomap Plus 93SV for the bow of my boat. Comes with good mapping, side view transducer (GT52) that fits the trolling motor and you can add the Livescope which is a real game changer but the unit by itself is better than Lowrance and easy to operate. If you add the Livescope you can watch a crappie come up and eat your jig, just don't jerk too quick LOL.... Amazing technology!

I will never buy another Lowrance product. The unit I bought last year started to not display depth. I called Lowrance and they wanted me to ship it to California and then they ship it to Mexico for a bench test which would cost me $50. Absolutely ridiculous, I replaced the unit with a Humminbird which is made and serviced in Alabama.
I have a HDS 7 Touchscreen. The on/off button quit working. I put a switch in line to turn it on and off.Quote:
