Splash box below dam has hugh hole in the bottom. Must be 10'x20'x3' deep that has been jack hammered out. That will have to be filled with concrete and allowed to cure.
At Green River Marina the restroom roof is maybe 12" out of the water. The transformers on the pole is maybe 8' out of the water. I have seen it within 3' of the transformers.
Rained hard most of today. Thunder and lightning.
I will get to my pontoon about March 25, 2020.
March 25th....sounds optimistic.
Seriously though, hope it gets lined out sooner than you think and you can get back to fishing Green

It's even worse today .... 697 :yikes (and still rising) ... and the COE FB page says they "might" get the spill basin done sometime next week. They musta had a pretty good storm down that way, as they had the dam road closed because of a downed tree over it (but it's been removed & road is open again).
I am using the Louisville District Daily Report and it said 695.2 ft, a raise of 3.2 ft from yesterday. Either way as big as Green is now either is a bunch of water.
698.13 that's a lot of water. Look like it will crest about 6' short of the record.
Yeah, I use that one, too, but it's only updated once a day (in the AM). I used this site : Lake Levels in Kentucky, United States : when I reported the 697 level (@10:21PM) .... it updates several times a day and the update times are posted.Quote:

A friend of mine with a houseboat there says at least March according to the Corp before it gets “down”. Not exactly sure what that level is, but doesn’t sound promising

Yeah, you'd have to figure that even at 1ft/day it's gonna take a month to get back down to Winter Pool. And with mid March being the time when they start raising it back up to Summer Pool, it might be a moot point to try and get it that low ... except for the fact that Feb into mid March last year was when it went as high as it is now. :Doh: And all that hinges on whether or not they can pull it that fast, that long, and the subsequent rains/snows that will be adding water back in the meantime. They can dump it only so fast without causing flooding problems downstream.Quote:

What government genius thought it would be a good idea to wait to do concrete work below the dam until fall/winter? Is there a good reason to not do this project in late summer? Is there not a source of info that says it is more likely to rain large amounts in late fall and winter?
The dumb part was not using 8 tubes to discharge water instead of 3. They have to do this every 10 years or so because the outflow wears the bottom out of the splash box. 3 tubes looks to me like half of normal flow and we don't usually have this much rain in the fall.
You make the lake this high in August and the tourist trade suffers much more than now.
Couldn’t they upgrade the splash box? I’m completely ignorant on the engineering involved, but are other lakes having to repeat this same process?Quote:

Green River Lake - US Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District
If conditions allow we will re-open the Tailwater recreation area tomorrow (Saturday, 21st) and we plan to open up to 1 tenth on the main gates, this will be a cfs of a little over 500. We plan to stay there through Sunday (22nd). First thing Monday (23rd) morning, we plan to open up to 6 tenths on the main gates, this will be a cfs of over 2,000. First thing Tuesday (24th) morning, we plan to increase to 14 tenths on the main gates, this will be a cfs of about 4,000-5,000. We plan to hold this through Wednesday (25th) and Thursday (26th), and if the weather is favorable, will open up to 21 or 22 tenths on Friday (27th), this will be a cfs of over 7,500
