I have never seen a rod and reel this old before. The rod was made out of some sort of square steel, and the reel was a Pflueger that had TRUMP on it.

And the trolling motor had to have been one of the first ones that MINN KOTA had ever made.

Nice stuff. I’ve got a pretty good collection of reels and lures but no rods.

Those rods amazed me. I had never seen a rod made out of square steel before. It’s looked exactly like the material they use to make the keys for a key-way. And apparently back then, Old Man Trump had a stake in Pflueger.

It says model 1943 on the side but I think it may be a little earlier than that.
Who were they ?
Good looking old stuff. Saw a canoe at an antique shop the had a gas motor grafted into it with a straight shaft and a tiller to steer. If I had the room I would have taken it home.
Neat stuff, you guys going to force me into the attic.

My Grandad had an old square rod, I don't remember the reel because I was too young.

The first rod my Dad gave me was a square steel one, with a knuckle buster added. Not sure what the line was, but it was heavy and stiffened up after each use. Here's a set up that I currently still have:

She's a Pflueger "Silk Kast" mounted on a tubular steel Heddon "Pal" casting rod. My grandkids get a kick out of seeing it when I pull it out. She's still in pretty decent shape too. :)
