Too windy to fish....so we shot duck

We actually were gonna hunt and fish, but it turned into more eating and hunting instead.

Needless to say, we ate well. The waitress asked me if I wanted bacon or ham, and I said ham. I did not know they were gonna bring me THIS! Holy cow. Imagine how much bacon there woulda been had I asked for that! dang. And yes, there are eggs in that pic somewhere.

It was cold and rainy. Pretty much rained all day long. And later when we wanted to fish, the wind blew us away. But we did hunt, and did do pretty good.

What a great dog. Luke loved going out and getting the ducks. He would come back, and woulda held that duck for an hour I think if Nick did not take it.

Great trip. We ended up with 14 ducks. I think most were ring necks, and one bluebill.

Nick knows his stuff for sure. If you want to duck hunt, he's guiding in Arkansas right now. But you can also fish Rend lake with him as well. Give him a holler and check his schedule. www.Crappiepredator.com

You're right, duck hunting there was not real good this year. We were lucky to get what we got.

Got invited to a duck shoot-at once. Shot at several.

I hear shots here at the lake on occasion. I have seen a few fly by at high altitude. I am unable to shoot duck anymore, but I can still shoot the bull.

That was most of a pig!!

I’m not a duck hunter but love flying targets and flushing birds. Also had a lot of fun in the dove field. Your story stirs something inside that makes me want to go find some birds. Good trip for you and the boys boss.

glad I want the first one to notice them waterfowl type a birds as being a little low on the list of "ducks" :Rofl
but to be sure even shovel pups beat no birds when the tasty flight birds aint around .
i sure wanted to see some bull sprigs and greenheads with a touch of gadwall and widgeon in the mix ,but some days it just aint meant to be .i do know watching a good dog fetching is more than good entertainment in itself .
and one thing for certain about that there excursion that for made my day as a food hound is that there breakfast

That's what you call a country breakfast and love those type places to eat. Used to duck hunt quite a bit and even raised and trained Labs myself so those pics brought back good memories of Duck Creek in SEMO. Havn't done that in many years but LOVE a Lab doing what they do. Now my lil brother has a place and a great dog. Hey shooting ducks is fun no matter what the species. Did have one memorable hunt in Stuttgart with a Doc I placed there 20 years ago and it was an epic hunt.

I always liked it when other folks kept the ducks myself as well . but to be sure if you brine the breast fillets over and over and over for about a week in the fridge and pound them daily with a meat mallet they eventually get about ok to so so as a food item :Rofl

Hey now, I got no problem with duck, after all, I like liver and onions (about once a year).

yep liver and onions and bell peppers after I soak the liver about 14 days and then beat it severely and cut it in strips so thin it might fly away and burn the works and put it on tortillas and cover said mess with salsa avocado pico cheese sour cream and that's about the extent of my liver ,duck, dove eating menu :Rofl

but hey then again ...its high in iron ….and as someone once said ...that's good fur ya :Rofl
