Yellow braided line that breaks right at 3lb. Very soft and supple, I have no problems with wind knots or rod tip tangles. It will stain in dirty water, but not an issue for me. Line guide noise is present but not as bad as some I have used and tried in the higher poundage classes for Bass and pulling cranks.

FWIW, most line sold as 2# line is really 3#. (That's for the USA. Euro/Japanese lines will be more accurate.)
Check the diameter. A 3# mono line will be about .15mm in diameter. 2# will be about .12mm. 4# will be about .17mm.

This is made in 3lb test also and is awesome for bite detection and casting. At .128 diameter it should break right at 3lbs.

Chris at Finesse has Sunline Troutist hi viz mono in 3 lb test. I haven’t used mine as yet so can’t comment on handling, but Yodie has and hopefully can comment.Quote:

You can get 3# test with the casting distance of 2# test. The Varivas Super trout Advance Sight Edition is a fantastic line also. I have a reel spooled up with some that has been on the reel for well over a year. It has no memory issues.....is still limp. But it is time for it to be replaced and I will do so with the Troutist line. I assume your question was about nylon line. Others have chimed in on the ester and or PE I would use too.

I also like this line a lot. It is good braided line that casts a mile. It is a little tricky tying the FG knot to the leader with small diameter braid. I stated using a 30 turn FG knot and the flouro leader doesn’t slip any more.Quote:

I tried their Mean Green a few years back. Their line breaks at nearly double what the rating is. I did not care for it. I will never understand why the majority of US line manufacturers rate their lines the way they do. If I am purchasing a US market line.....which I have not done in years.....I now just look at the diameter. You may have seen this chart before but this will tell you what the real diameter to pound rating is.Quote:

Thank you, Alphahawk. = one of these days, I would like to fish with you, one day. I certainly do not like braid. I am going to make up my mind before long. Give me your recommendation, please. I am 72 and have fair sight. I keep 3 rigs ready, if I break off, I just pick up another, It is almost impossible to retie a knot in the boat, for me.

I would get either the Troutist Area in 3# test or the Varivas Super Trout Advance Sight Edition in 3# test. You will not go wrong with either. I hear you about tying the knots. I had to go to hi-vis lines as there is no way I can see the clear lines. As for fishing I need to get back to Pickwick in the spring. I used to live close....like real close. I lived in Middleton, TN. Then I moved 90 miles from Pickwick....now I live 146 miles from there. One day trips at age 68 are no fun anymore. But....I do want to hit it a few more times if I can.Quote:

The white bass run has dropped off at my favorite lake. Was catching 40/50 a morning, I was using 4# Kast King Copolymer line. A very good cheap line. They were running from 1 to 2.5#, a real fight. Most were released. Fun, Fun.
