Noise coming from new rod

I recently returned a defective G. Loomis panfish rod I ordered due to bubbles in the epoxy, a crooked reel seat, and a slight ticking sound when i gave the rod a shake. The new one is free from defects it would seem but there is an even more defined ticking/clicking sound in this one. Is this the epoxy "breaking in"? or should I be concerned? The rod is a Loomis SR6010 IMX and I love the rod but the sound concerns me. It seems like it is something that is common in these rods for me to get two in a row like this, I don't want to send a 2nd rod back if it's something that's common and fades in time.

That's a new one on me. Can't imagine getting any noise from a rod, especially a high end one like that.

Does the epoxy seem to be cracking ?

no nothing like that, it just seems to be a flexing/ticking sound when the rod flexes, I think it's just from it being such a flexible blank and the epoxy not being as flexible.

I would look at it close with a magnafying glass then....if the epoxy is stiffer than the rod I would think that something has to give.

What does the Manufacturer say about it ?

It's been years since I fished with that model, but I don't remember any noise.

Maybe post this on the rod building forum to see if they can shed some light on this.

Check where rod goes into reel seat. It could be flexing right as it goes into seat. Graphite is going to transmit that sound up the blank.

There are already lots of posts like this about both custom and factory rods on rod building forums I looked at already and most responses are similar but they do vary, the general consensus is that it usually disappears in time and doesn't indicate that something's wrong. I expect I'll get similar redundant answers if I post so I see little point in signing up with a new forum to ask one question that's already been asked on more than one forum. Just figured I'd see what the good people on here have to say about it. The rep I spoke to from American Legacy Fishing when returning the other rod said it's common on trout and panfish rods and will go away in time, but their job is to sell rods lol.

The only noise like you describe that I’ve ever experienced was in a store. In handling a new rod, not too high priced as I remember, I heard some cracking sound. Knowing how rods go together, and this was a flexible rod, I wrote it off to the epoxy securing the reel seat. Never had it happen on any of my own.

I had a new rhino rod make a real loud crackling noise one time on a hook set with a huge striper as it burned off drag and doubled the rod down and on its second run it did the same thing and I was pretty sure at that time the rod was done for .
That rod is still in my arsenal and has caught so many large fish it isn't funny including what is my largest back bass to date .
The rod is somewhere in the 30 years old range ,so in synopsis its possible it wont be a problem down the road .

Most likely the reel arbors were not fitted tight enough and are slightly loose , not a big deal but annoying , will transmit sound in graphite.
