looks nice. I have often thought about trying night crappies, but was concerned about the bugs. Do you have a lot of luck at night ?
Don't want to hijack the thread but night crappie is a lot of fun, getting that time of year when the bugs become scarce and the slabs get crazy.

Minnows. I have been playing with jigs the last few weeks and haven't found the right one yet. But not worried too much as I get my minnows free.

i have always luved nite fishing. Usually the mosqitos come in thats when the bite really starts just before. i spray down and fish on. there are times locations have a lot of blind mosquitos and they will run even me out . Usually the regular mosquito thins out quite a bit after while and then its great but the BLIND MOSQUITOS STAYS THE ALL NIGHT LOOKING FOR YOU--THEY DONT BITE BUT THEY ARE SOOO THICK YOU CAN HARDLY KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN. i have mosquiro netting hats tht i have used at times like lake istapogo in seebring--i will tell u right now that lake has not only mosquitoes at mnight it has every flying creature in the state.
Thankfully the bugs are currently at a minimum. The mayflies finally realized that May was over and the blind skeeters only got me 1 night but I outlasted them.

You need to get you a thermacell or two!
They are great at keeping skeeters away.
Does a thermocell repel anything else besides mosquitoes???
Love night fishing.

Come on down to central Florida, I always have room for another angler, besides I am sure that I could learn something. Sent from my SM-G900V using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app
I can't even get em to repel mosquitoes. Have bought and tried 3 different ones. 2 are still in the woods and 1 is on bottom of lake.

I have to agree with him that they are useless. I have tried several and have yet to see a difference.

I use halagon spot lights on the side of the boat and fish with live minnows at various depths until I get them hitting. A friend tried the leds mounted the same way and I consistently catch about 5 to his 1 even when we swap locations of our boats.

Thank you Rob would love to take you up on your offer sometime.

I really had high hopes of them working, I hate bug spray and bugtamer suits are very hot. Still using bug spray and wear Bugtamers when in woods hunting. I tried 2 of the handheld style and 1 of the lantern style. Actually had the lantern under my chair at a ball game and had mosquitoes all over me. Second try at that one and it went into lagoon as far as I could throw it.
Mine works great
