Anybody gonna brave da weather and go? I'd sure like to and if I knew where any fish were on bridges, I'd try to find one, tie up and sit a spell. Last 2 Saturdays there has been zero on bridges.

Come on cuz put you an a rain jacket and get out their with em oh and you might want to take a 40’ shield to block off the 20 mph wind and enjoy the ride from all the little bitty boats chasing those green feeshes today ! Alabama Bass trail tourney today plus all the others :banghead:banghead
Bass tournaments are so awesome. Glad I missed it
Yeah, I didn't go. The wind is howling.
Go south ! Up the creek they should be all in their! :dono
Oh and watch out if you go to town creek I’ve heard reports of GATORS sunning on the rocks by the bridge! Be careful
Dang! I'd heard a little about that but I wasn't sure. I knew it wouldn't be long til they got here. That's gonna cut down on the bank/bridge fishing I'd bet!
I knew that was coming from someone.

It's bad windy on this side of the state but I'm ready to give it a try I might go tomorrow if the wind isn't to bad.
Yes. The fish are biting good. South Sauty and 431 have been producing fairly well. We went the past 2 Saturdays. The wind was 15 mph and gusting 25 and the fish were biting. And I'm glad you like to make fun of my bear comments about Town Creek. As a dispatcher for the Game Wardens, I can assure you they are around. People have been reporting bear sightings and if you think they won't approach you you need to do your homework. Yes, some will run. Butif they have a cub around, you better have a pistol. I don't just make stuff up. Funny how you mention gator sunning at Town Creek trying to deter people from fishing there. We went the past few weeks and done pretty well there too. A buddy of mine has been going at night and catching 14 each night from the bank. I have been going to a few bridges and if you're not catching them, maybe it is the time you go.
I used to live close to Town Creek. I fished it a lot. The fishing was always good there, especially at night. Cleaned all the trash up one spring when Slab had a contest. Filled the bed of my truck twice. I was not poking any fun about a bear. My comment about the gator was in disbelief. Grew up close to the river delta in Mobile Al. I know gators we had plenty. They do taste good. I relocated for work a little over 4 years ago. I was hoping there were no gators around that area. Didn't want to see anyone hurt. I figured it was one someone had released and was used to being fed by people. It would hear you on the bank fishing and show up for a snack. They aren't usually found that far North.
Alligators were released in 1979 in Wheeler Wildlife Refuge. 56 I think. So seeing any gator on the Tennessee river would not be unusual. That being said, I've ducked hunted and fished the river for the past 40 years and never seen one. But I have seen 2 together down here on the Coosa river.
Bears, yep, they are here too. Never seen one while turkey hunting, but got one on a a game camera about 200 yards from my barn. And I live just inside the city limits.
Worried, no. Cautious, yes.
I’ve never saw a bear but won’t make fun of someone for being cautious of them. But I have saw several gators on wheeler. I don’t want to confront either of them.

All good. I apologize. I've posted things on here before and just get made fun of. I just spoke with the local Game Warden about an hour ago who patrols Town Creek. I am now one of many dispatchers for the Game Wardens for the state. I also dispatch wildfires too (15 years). He said yes, there are some huge bears around but most will run from you. But you never know! If they have a cub you're in trouble. I try to throw away food on the ground if I see it. I saw a big pile of poop a few days ago at TC. Probably human which is just nasty but you never know. I have been to Town Creek many of times and never ran up on one, but if one walks out on you, I just get nervous fishing there by myself. I drive 2 hours to fish there. Freak accidents do happen. I am cautious, yes. I mean what can you do? Nothing. Swim or shoot lol. Either way, no gun and you're bear meat. I've never seen a gator there. Will I go back? Of course. I'm going this week. I usually hit up Short Creek and shew away the water snakes and then hit Town Creek. My buddy who lives up there has been doing good at South Sauty. I see people posting on Facebook daily of catching good numbers in mid-day. Good luck and be safe is all I can tell you.
Yep. Had a report of one in someone's backyard a few days ago. They aren't afraid that's for sure.
Just passing along word that I heard ! I wouldn’t ever try to deter someone one from fishing a bridge or any of the bridges! I hardly ever fish bridges ! we have over 65000 acres of lake !! too many peaceful places that produce plenty of fish for me to fight the crowd/noise and the nonsense at the bridges And the places that I find/create to catch fish I share with some friends but I don’t put it Out their for every one ! I want to keep those spots as long as possible because it takes effort and time to build or locate ! Please don’t be offended at me and not trying to offend anyone ! I fish for enjoyment I keep what I need/want and I release the other 95% of what I catch ! Some folks don’t have a boat so they are left with bank fishing alone . It’s no secrete that most all the bridges on Big G hold fish year round if you know how to catch them but so many folks set around lurking for a report or 10 cars parked at a bridge before they will put forth an effort to load up a rod and go. It’s your choice share with who you want where their biting and how you are catching them but when you get their and you don’t have a place to fish please don’t be upset about it because you are the one that invited the crowd !
The locals are already there when I show up anyway. Lol. I don’t mind sharing reports. If things are so secret why even have a website? I thought we were hear to help each other. My fault. Just because someone says 431 is hot today it might be cold tomorrow. Fish move. I usually get there before daybreak and the locals are there already lol.
I always have my pistol. It's not for gators or bears though. Fish around gators all the time in Louisiana. They won't bother you if you let them alone. Lived around bears for years. Not worried about them either. Pistol is for two legged critters that will bother you if they get the chance!
American Black bears are not really huge like the Brown Bears and Grizzlys. The bears here in the south are Black Bears.... I retired from 31 years with the Mississippi Forestry Commission...saw Black bears a few times. What few problems I heard about was somebody getting between a sow bear and her cubs and even then nobody got hurt ...they got out of the way and left and everything was fine.
Just looked at the Alabama Forestry Commission website to see if any of the ones I know were still working there...I guess they retired now like me AFC - Employee Directory
