I started with a standard 10” and it was fine but I had a chance to upgrade and boy was I glad I did. My 8610xsv has a glass face, a gazillion pixels and the resolution is almost 3d. It really makes a difference! Yes, it is a bit more but I can assure you well worth it. The touch screen is very sensitive so there is seldom a double tap required. It is also able to add transducers giving you every option you would ever need. It could replace my Helix 10 in a minute but I have it mounted below my Helix 10 as I use the Bird for navigation to waypoints, confirmation of brush, etc. but once there the LiveScope takes over as I watch the fish react to my lure.

I really love my Echomap Ultra 122. Has a great screen (same as the 8600 series), touch with 3 favorite buttons, and at a good price.
Love using for Livescope!!!
I'm thinking about an Echomap Ultra myself. I'll move the Em+93sv to the kayak.
Who makes the 8610xsv dhaire?
I have the 74SV, 7"and I think most are touchscreen like mine.
The best unit would be to consider the distance you will be from the unit to see clearly. the bigger the better for a boat. Mine is small for my kayak and I am close enough to see everything clearly. The big units can be seen further back. Also the higher end units have the capability to record images/pics directly from the unit without have to use your camera to take blurry images/vids.
Go with what you feel best with and test in bright daylight to make sure your happy.
OK GURUS......... if lakehouse sells im getting a boat one im looking at has a 7616 xsv will this bed a good match to the livescope?
IMO NO!

9" is as small as I would go.
Unless I'm missing something, I would think that the 7616 would be a great matchup for LS. 16" M/L and resolution as good as the Ultras.
this is a 16" unit
Which 12" unit would be better a GPSMAP 1222 or the Echomap Ultra 122?
Well, heck, so much for my input. I also thought we were talking about a 7” screen and I thought that was too small. Now a 16” screen is something else! Sorry for not looking closer.

Bigger is always better and I know Bama S goes first class or stays home! :cheers2:ThumbsUp
I have HB units on my boat but would like to add Garmin Livescope. Can someone advise where to buy and who installs them. Thanks.
Thanks for the response, I’ll give them a call.
