I went last week and caught some off points and humps
bowman, don't know about your area, but they are starting to move, pulled a little while Saturday but didn't see what I was looking for and mainly was fishing brush. It wont be long, they'll be in the creek and main lake river areas water has started to cool down and bait is moving area also. I was thinking of asking you the same question...
Thanks guys. I hope to get my boat back out soon if nothing else just to run it and check the lake out a bit. I work this whole weekend but that means there's 2 days I can take off as I like. I know that water surface temp has GOT to be taking a bit of a dive now too, and that's gonna help knowing the water is cooling to get those crappies (and the bait) scattered and moving some. Bet it wont take very long at this rate for some turn-over to start showing up in areas too.
I've been wanting to go and try it the last two weeks, but building a house and work is killing my afternoons. I am going next week come he!!, wind, or high water!!! I'm gonna start my pulls on underwater points and channel ledges.
they are starting to on wylie, i went last week to make a video for my YouTube channel. my catfishing buddies looked at me like i was crazy when i would talk about it. i made the video, now they calling wanting to go. lol they said that cant be fun catching them little fish. i took him he went and spent 200.00 on crappie poles and jigs haha i hope everyone is well

Thanks for posting that video bowlerman. Now you got me REALLY wanting to go longlining!;):)
It is working up here in N.C. here is a pic from high rock Saturday. Long lined in about 18 fow. Kept these 20 and released more than that in the 8 to 9 inch range. Also caught a bunch of cats. Pulled jigs across one point and had 4 cats on at once. What a mess. Cut up 3 outfits to clear everything. Didn’t go across that point again.
Butch,
I heard a good trolling report from both our Russell and Hill favorite areas last week. So I tried trolling on Clarks Hill Friday morning and had success during the first two hours of the trip. Caught almost thirty with fifteen good keepers to 12". Tried brush with little success then switched to deepwater dropshotting where I found a ton of perch and small stripers. Water temps between 8am and noon ranged from 67 to 71...so yes, it's prime time!
Thanks for those tips guys. My next couple days off will more than likely be fishing instead of hunting. Deer season lasts until Jan 15th so I can miss a couple days I think.;):)
Most of my brush was empty today at wateree. Caught all but 3 fish suspended away from brush.

Water temp is holding in low 70's now. 74 yesterday. Crappie will follow the bait as it moves back in the creeks. Definitely time to break out the long lines.
Hey Butch, have you been out fishing with a livescope yet?

Gotta work....but thanks for the offer. One day I wanna see one o those live scopes though.;)
I fished with 91tiger last weekend. That livescope is pretty awesome! We watched a few fish swim over and grab the spoons.
I got one on my boat butch so let me know when you want to go and I will meet you somewhere.
Thanks Don. I'll take you up on that one day. I thought the live scope was best suited for the downline (brushpile) fisherman. How well is it suited for the longliner?
Butch I have not used it for long lining but I have read that it can be used for it. I have not used it at all been to busy with the pontoon and to hot. Fixing to get the boat out and get it cleaned up and ready to fish. I got to replace the wheel bearings before I haul it any where.
Hey Don I discovered that I can buy the whole pre-assembled hub assembly for not a lot more than the bearings, seals, etc. I wanted a spare for backup when I pull my boat to Okeechobee each year. Depends on the trailer I'm sure but my entire pre-lubed assembly was around $25 from E-trailer. If the pressed in race is pitted and needs replacing this is a no-brainer because they are a PIA to knock out and install. All is new in the assembly.
Ray I had a bearing go bad coming back from Mississippi and unfortunately it was one of the brake hubs. They did not have a replacement hub so the just put a regular hub on it so I could get home. I need one hub with disc brakes and one regular hub. Will probably just go to wesco and see if they got the parts to fix it. Thanks for the info
