I wish I had spent the extra money. I got my terrova about a year ago. Didn’t think I care about the stow or deploy, but now I wish I had it. Being able to pick up and move is a job sometimes and that would make it that much easier.

Spend the money.
If you really want the response of a cable steer, then yes. That is the primary difference.
Unless you were talking about the Ulterra, which has the auto stow/deploy.
Buy once cry once.

As I gt older my joints hurt more, especially sitting fishing. I bought the Ulterra for the easy stow. With I link it puts me right on a waypoint. Yea I cried till I used it for the first time. Now I absolutely love it. One man boat launch is just so kool. Yes I do it.

I too bought a Terrova a few months ago, and wish I'd spent the extra money on the Ulterra. As stated above, the auto deploy and stow would be well worth the extra $$ in my opinion.
Not only that but I’m waiting on the mega 360 to come out, and so far on HB website the terrova isn’t listed as a trolling motor that it can be attached to.

If you plan to get the Mega 360, the Ultrex is the way to go unless you want to get a 3rd party mounting system for the 360.
I bought the Ulterra this spring, as mentioned above the knees and hips don't work like they use to. Now, just push a button and deploy the unit and push a button to stow. Would hate to give my Ulterra up!!
I've had an Ultrex for a year and its the best investment we have made for our boat. Spot lock is a game changer in itself. We fish a bunch of docks so a responsive foot pedal was important. I love the remote in more open water. You won't be disappointed.
YES! The Ultrex is foot control and has a very fast response. You stow and deploy it like a standard trolling motor. It also comes with a remote.
The Ultra comes with just a remote, it does have the cool stow and deploy feature and I think you can get a wireless foot pedal. I have no idea on the speed of its response.
Both are very good motors, just depends on what features your really looking for.
Ultrex will be my next purchase, although my Terrova has been fine.
The remote for the Ulterra works flawlessly near or far from a dock. I love being able to sit comfortably on the padded cooler just aft of the deck (and under the Bimini top) and to be able to control the TM. I can control it from anywhere on the boat and I would not give up the auto deploy/stow for anything!

As Roy says above, it depends on your preferences. I don't mind not having a self-deploy unit but can see where others love that option. I'm old school enough to like standing on the front of my boat running the motor by foot so the smoothness of the Ultrex is second to none. I do enjoy the remote while out spider-rigging and have used it a little in tighter quarters around docks but it doesn't feel as "natural" to me. The electronic foot pedals whether wired or wireless seem slow in their response time. Others may love them but to "me" I didn't like them at all. I do plan on using the remote more this fall when my dock shooting gets more attention. Maybe after some time in the saddle it will become more familiar.
Ulterra is the bomb.
The Ultrex pedal does move anytime the motor turns via remote. Obviously it has a direction arrow on top but I find myself paying more attention to the foot pedal for reference than the arrow especially if I'm running it from the middle or rear of the boat. The first couple trips spider-rigging felt odd using the remote but I quickly picked up a "feel" for direction and now I don't even notice if I glance at the arrow or not. Some times I use Ipilot link and let the motor follow contours or previous routes so the motor does everything on it's on. I'm still learning but this equipment makes fishing better for sure.
First I want to thank all of you for your input, THANKS. Well, I have made up my mind on which TM I'm going to get. It's the Ultrex 1368801 80/US2 with IPilot and blue tooth. It has put my budget to the limit and then some.
You won't be sorry.
If I got in a bad tight and had to sell things off my boat for cash, I'd sell my 2 Helix units before I sold my Ulterra.
Hope you enjoy it.
We have the Ulterra. My wife loves the stow and deploy. Also we lay tracks so we can start a track and just set back and fish. When we get to the end we can reverse it and fish back to the start.
