I was with a guide night fishing last week that using one. We set up front and fished off the live scope. It’s like playing a video game dropping the jig into the fish. Caught 40. I’m a 360 man before this.
I've fished with a member (slabeye) that has one ... and seeing the fish before you get on top of them is pretty cool. Seeing them come up and hit the bait is awesome. Seeing them come up to the bait & then turn and go back down to where they were .... not so awesome :banghead ... but, without it one might think there were no fish in that spot and keep moving on (without trying other baits/methods).
Now, we were Pushing jigs at the time, but he's used it casting to submerged timber & learned a few things about their behavior (especially when one in the school gets caught).
I am running a 1222xsv non touch with it. I have caught a lot of fish this season that I would have not even cast to because of the scope. Seeing the mood of the fish, i think is scopes biggest asset.
I have it and use it to fish for crappie. I like it but I should have bought a more expensive display unit with it. I have the 93 sv + and I can't see fish come up and take the jig the way some state they can. I have found the best use for it is determining whether a structure holds fish. Then it is up to you to convince them to strike.
Seems like it would help for sure
I've had a Livescope for around 7 months or so. Love it, best thing since sliced bread for crappie fishing IMO. I started out with an Echomap 93sv plus and then upgraded to an Echomap Ultra 1222. Best decision I've made in buying electronics, unbelievable unit and system.
Have a Helix 10 on top for DI and Nav. Garmin 8610xsv under it for LiveScope. Do not spend time on brush that does not show fish. Allows us to see the fishes reaction so if no bite color and size change often change their mind. Absolutely changed our way we fish for the better.

I love mine with a 94 SV, To me watching fish in the water is cool, but--Real time view and distance to the prey is awesome. I have gone back to cast and retrieve a lot more now. In bottom scan you can watch the fish run from your boat. That is my feelings.
P.S I use side view to find tree tops and such, Then the live view takes over. IE Distance, structure view and IF fish are present.
Hi
You think a 10" would have been better or are you talking bigger still?
Thanks

I shoot docks and with livescope don't fish docks that don't hold fish. You may find them but sometimes they won't bite. Livescope may change your mind on many things we though we knew about crappie. If i didn't have one it would be on my list. How you fish is the key, docks laydowns tops structure livescope is great. If you pull or push i am not sure.
Here's another example where the live scope paid off.... I was fishing for bluegills one day in a 40-acre farm pond. I thought I knew where to fish anytime I went, but a guy had a live scope there one day bass fishing and he said if you are fishing for bluegills... the biggest one's in the lake are in a certain place every time I fish here. I changed where I fish real fast.
I have DOGSCOPE - Denny version. Cost $250 plus the Garmin 7SV. Attachment 355420Attachment 355421Attachment 355422

the times I have used one it is pretty nice to see how the fish react . but I honestly can say I knew most of what I saw on it before it showed me .
now that said would I run one if I had a boat , maybe, maybe not , I don't like to look at graphs very long and typically just use them to find the fish and then after that I concentrate on making them bite .
one thing for certain though if employed correctly it will up the odds for most crappie fisherman that jig for crappie .
my 2 cents …..on a side note , I know factually a strike happens before you see it on livescope ….and that's a fact , been there done that .and my buddy saw the exact same thing when he used it ….just an fyi
I have the PLS with a 93sv+, but I am kinda wanting a bigger screen with more resolution.
Ummmm have to disagree ketchn the livescope I was watching. I could see the fish come up and take the bait as I felt the hit. Maybe different graphs process at different speeds. He has the latest 12” graph and the set up will change your game when you learn to use it properly. then again different lakes present themselves differently as to how you fish them.if you keep up with the tournament fishing you’ll find the top teams using it a lot.
It's getting to be more like video games to me. No I don't have one, but I go out to 1. See if I can catch fish, 2. Be out in the outside. Sounds to me like you all are turning into teenagers with their video games...just my:twocents.
I know not of high end electronics and use them rarely ,I do know the winners of many tournaments hunt down big fish with livescope and to be sure I think one could do that .
but I saw fish again yesterday and saw some approach the jig and never saw a take and even think I saw one swim off after a peck I felt but didn't see .
I suppose some units are bigger and better but I most likely will never get to play with them and am destined to just wait patiently for a bite as my adhd drives me bonkers watching fish swim around down there .
besides when there are this many marks and they are that size I cant just watch the screen , I have to get jiggy right now ! :Rofl
It’s kewl ketchn. When you get better st reading graph it’ll come around. I checked with four guides. On livescope they agree it’s instaneous
Can these not be cast onto the screen of a tablet. Just found out that the elite 5 ti that I have can be wirelessly linked to a tablet. I can take a 10 inch tablet and move about the boat freely and control the sonar. I had bought the five inch for kayak fishing, was wanting something larger for the boat. Being able link to a tablet has given me the bigger screen I was looking for
We have replaced our brains with phones and fishing instincts with electronics. Enjoy fishing with the methods of your choice and the price you can afford.

I agree completely. I personally enjoy the art of fishing. I consistently catch enough fish to eat and keep backup in the freezer. It is more important to me that I go fishing and relax while enjoying God's wonders instead of limiting out every trip.

This is why I wish I had bought the more expensive display unit instead of the 93v plus. The 93v plus unit does a decent job of displaying what is there but it just does not give you the resolution to definitely state you can see the fish take your jig. I am not sure but I suspect the more expensive units have more processing power. I want one and will probably buy one in the near future.
As to better equipment ruining the sport I have heard that every since the flashing light fish finder came out. And yes, I bought one of those and no, it did not diminish my use of my brain nor my fishing pleasure when I used it.
You will not see me spending $80,000-$100,000 for a bass boat nor spending several hundred dollars for a fishing rod nor a reel. I just don't see the need for that kind of expense so for me it would be a waste of my money. But you will also not see me disparaging someone else because they feel they need for the expensive rigs and the expensive rods and reels to enjoy their fishing.
I loved to fish when I fished from the bank using a cheap zebco rod and reel. I loved to fish when I bought my first boat. I loved to fish when I bought the flash unit finder. I loved to fish when I bought my HB 587 unit. I loved to fish when I bought my HB999 unit. And I still love to fish now that I have the HB Solix unit and my LiveScope. Buying this equipment has not diminished my use of my brain nor my fishing instincts. All this equipment has done is ensure there are fish where I am fishing, it does not make them bite.
As to catching limits every trip, that does not happen. Some days I may catch two or three limits, some days I am lucky to catch anything. But the number of crappie I catch doesn't matter as I only keep 4-5 fish once or twice a week. The number I catch on any given day doesn't matter to me as I have just as much fun on a day when I am skunked as on the days when I catch multiple limits.
Whether to buy one or not is a personal decision. It can save you time since you will not fish non-productive water but you will still need to use your fishing skills to get them to bite when you locate them.
Here's what i think a livescope would do for me. Perhaps I'm restating my original question.
I want to know if the fish are following my jigs and rejecting it. Or not interested at all.
If i need to change colors/size.
If its time to leave.
I think it would save me a lot of time and i think it could make me a better fishermen.
Hold it still?
Add motion?
Let it fall?

Wow!looks like someone struck a nerve with ezgoing, nobody has said that the decision to invest in expensive gear was wrong, the original post was asking for people's opinions. Which mind you we all have and none are the correct opinion all the time. Just saying

I'm partially responsible - I was stomping on ant hills and I'm a hypocrite as I have spent $420 on a Garmin 7sv which I really like for the money spent. However early Friday morning I plan on shore fishing several new areas and eventually may hit these areas in my boat. Will post pics in a day or 2 if I catch anything over 7" long. LOL!!Attachment 355548

Brett I’m about an hour north east of ya up on lake tillery, I have the 1022 and the lvs32 transducer, if you wanna see it for yourself then come on up one day, I’ll say this it will hurt your feeling by showing you all your not catching, I can see my jig and my wieght above the jig when tightlining, I’m happy with my screen size, I got mine as a combo from russel marine,
Fyi, one thing you rarely hear anyone say though is that the unit and the black box requires a minimum of 12 volts to operate properly which requires a lot and I mean a lot of guys to have to run a bigger gauge separate wires from the battery to the bow
I want to know if the fish are following my jigs and rejecting it. Or not interested at all. Yes even with the 93v + unit you can see if they are investigating your jig and rejecting it.
If i need to change colors/size. You can tell they are rejecting what you are offering. Whether you need to change size, color or method of presentation is something you need to decide. Sometimes just adding a crappie nibble to the jig can induce strikes.
If its time to leave. Your decision. You can see there are fish are there and they are not biting what you are offering. Whether it's time to leave or keep trying different things is something you must decide.
I think it would save me a lot of time and i think it could make me a better fishermen. It can definitely save time when you don't fish spots that do not contain fish.
Hold it still?
Add motion? You will definitely be able to see the results of each of these actions.
Let it fall?
It is nice to have and I enjoy my unit. But you don't need it to be a good crappie fisherman, just as you don't need a boat or other equipment.I sold my boat before moving back to Texas as I didn't want the hassle of moving it. My wife and I fished at a local fish barge before we bought another boat. The lack of a boat and other equipment did not prevent us from enjoying crappie fishing.
Looks like a good unit.
Years ago i bought a lowrance hds9, hummingbird 998 and a Garmin?
All at the same time.
Kept the lowrance hds . Only one with excellent down imaging.
Still have it.
Likely switching Garmin
Thanks

1042garmin with live scope along with 2 humminbird Megan’s with 360.
i use the SI to find fish, the 360 to position the boat and the live scope to pick them off
1042 resolution is good enough for your setup?
Any thoughts on getting the 12 inch?
Thanks
