nice looking rig....i finally have three rigs i use for gills , two super ultralight that i use for crappie and gills , and one extra extra ultralight just for gills...the rods are just low-end rods but for the present they get the job done..i will get some higher end rods as budget allows , having 3 makes it a lot easier to just pick up a change of lure , instead of having to tie on another........good luck with the gills !!.........i see that they are coming out with a stradic lt soon , i will get one of those too when i can....
Nice....doh, thought you were talking about the motorcycle. K cool, that fishing rig is nice too. Thanks for sharing.
I keep 3 rigged and ready, when I go after gills, for the same reason, if one is not producing, I will use another. Different baits on each one. That is a nice setup for sure, you have!
As of now I think of 3 rigs that I could use for gill, 1/32oz #6 hook, drag and hop on bottom, 1/32oz #6 hook on float and split shot rig. As for now, I’m gonna be just fishing around shallow shoreline. What would be my best bet?
You guys usually do shorter or longer rods for bluegill fishing? I've got a 5'6" light and a 7' ultralight right now and like em both for fishing gills. I think having a few rigged up different would be a good idea but not sure which direction to go.
Very nice set up.
JB - I'm going to be @ LP on Sunday with my buddy Tu. I leave out of the marina ~0620 - we will be trolling in the east end. Can give you a few pointers, look for a pontoon with a blue top.
RS - I like the longer rods for casting & trolling and use short rods (5.5' and shorter) for dock fishing. I fish from a boat so normally have 4 to 6 rods rigged (also I'm a lazy fisherperson). The less expensive JDM rods are awesome too.
Congrats on the new rig.
Regards
That’s a nice rig, good luck with it. I’m no help on the nice rigs, most of what I use are lower end and not JDM.
Sharp looking little combo
Nice to read about guy's using ultra light rods and reels. I did years ago, Mitchell 308 on a Garcia 3206 rod, it was super. Recently got a new ultra light for crappie fishing. 5' Ocuma UL rod and Ocuma Ignite iT-10a reel filled it with 4# yellow Kastking mono. Haven't had it out for crappie yet, lake is full of weeds and algae right now. But, took it to the river fo small mouth and it was great. This is I think my third Ocuma reel and about the same number of Ocuma rods. Boy do I like them but don't read much about them.
Nice bluegill rig and good luck with your bluegill search. I like reading anything about UL bluegill fishing. Don Fischer mentioned Okuma rods for UL and I have a 5'6" and a 6'0" Okuma Celilo. With a springy action they are just plain fun on bluegill, crappies and bass.
Nice setup! I've got an XUL that i've fished for awhile, fun for gills, miserable when you hook into a huge catfish.
I have the rod, love it. I do use a different reel. You will enjoy for sure!
