Was hoping they had a software release that improved spot lock. Oh well, I will keep dreaming (smile).

I have the new Ulterra it has it's own GPS antenna. I did have a First Generation terrova and the Ulterras spot lock is fantastic. I would agree with you on the older units. I bought a Helix G3N CHO for the bow to work with the T/M. But I have not been able to get out to try it out.Quote:

I have the latest version of the Ulterra. Less than 2 years old. I also have the Helix 10 Mega everything Gen 2 along with the Garmin 8610axv with LiveScope. I have had three new heads, one of which was installed by an authorized Minn Kota dealer (two hours way), multiple calls to tech support (they are awesome), a dozen different configurations recommended by tech support and it still varies from 5 to 10 feet. I also have the As Gps Hs external GPS. Best Minn Kota came up with was my center console 18 foot FreedomBoat was too light on the bow. And, yes, boat scale was the first thing we worked on. I have the upper end transducer from Humminbird that came with the Helix mounted on the Ulterra so I have Mega imaging SI, DI, etc. along with all nav functions. The sonar that came internally with the Minn Kota was not worth anything to me so I took it off and pitched it.Quote:

I have a new one month old Ulterra and am a bit dissapointed. if I stay in a 10' circle i'm lucky.
Hey, did not mean this to turn to HB bashing. Other than spot lock I think it is the best trolling motor on the market and I am glad they continue to roll out new models.

Getting back to point .....
I think a built in mega transducer with SI and DI on the trolling motor sounds nice but it doesn't compare to Garmin Livescope. By the time you add the cost of a new trolling motor and then knowing HB the built in Minn Kota transducer will only work with their latest Mega+ units I'm guessing your looking at investing 4 to 5 thousand dollars.
Think I'll just stay with my 2 year old Ultrex trolling motor and my 12" Garmin with Livescope.

Interesting. They are making an adapter to be able to use it with G2N models. And you will be able to use the newest lowQ 2d transducer. I'm surprised. Maybe they will go ahead an offer an external transducer similar to the one they will have built into the trolling motor that is compatible for Mega+ units as well as G2N Mega units, both SI and DI with the lowQ 2d transducer which is a huge improvement over their standard 2d transducer. Thanks for the information.

No such thing as advance spot lock.....it’s just spot lock....there is AdvanceAuto Pilot and Legacy AutoPilot.
