- Tons of crappie baits!
- Beer
- Ice Chest
Name it, "I Got Worms" :Rofl
Just my x likker store take. Walmart is too close. You may get a few sympathy buys, however wallet world is too close. They will sell it for what you pay for it or less as far as beer goes.small low end tackle, hooks jigs sinkers etc. Like the location.
A lot of guys I know will buy from local people rather than Walmart. I am willing to pay a little more to help local buisness. One thing I would suggest, Lee is to get a machine to spoil line on reels when people buy it. Good selection of jigs baits for bass and crappie and good live baits. As a Christian man, I would not not sell beer but don't judge those who do. I hope you do well
Worm and cricket vending machines outside for when you're not open.

Bama i was talking about beer not tackle. You will have excellent exposure for the air business all us rednecks good bad and ugly have to go to home depot. Keep us updated! Walmart will have something, BG for example then you never see it again.
Exactly
Good luck bud! I would sell ice in bulk to. You would be surprised how much of a draw that is. Maybe a ice machine to sell cheaper

You can make it bag and all with a small 2000 buck machine for 25 cents for an 8 lb. Bag
Capacity roughly 250 # in 24 hour. Bag your own . one fifty a bag and you are cheaper than all the Indians and dollar generals selling reddy ice. Plus making more money.!
Hey hey hey chuckster. I have an ice machine with 400 lb bend I can bag it up no doubt.
Table, scoop, you are in business, only takes a few minutes
I would sell some bologna sandwiches & hamburgers and maybe some hotdogs. Little breakfast food in the morning and a good coffee machine.

Just an idea, don’t know the room you will have. But biscuits or sandwiches might do well with the early birds and maybe hunters too. Just a thought.
14 hours a day.....7 days a week

Sunrise from new building gonna be awesome.
I will be moving to AL in the coming months. When you get open I will have to take a road trip down to fish your area and make sure I stop in for some bait!!
Run a cost analysis of what you think your operating costs would be for the worst month of the year of operation and see what it is to break even. Then decide if you want to have a bait shop. 99% of all bait shops are “maw & pa” run and they live with them 24/7 and in reality, you cannot buy product at the competing pricing competing with the big box stores. Also consider, your competing with internet sales. Where you buying your stock from? Most items stocked will have to be purchased thru wholesalers or middle men as you won’t have the buying power to make small purchases in items from dealing direct thru manufacturers. Check out who the wholesalers are. Water for minnows. Well or City? Bait shop will tie you down. :twocents
I know a wholesale bait and tackle man that works north Alabama. He might be willing to sell tackle to you. His prices are better than anyone else I know of.

ya know ya know ya know......... i dont think i want disgruntled customers saying they got dead minnows or worms . lol or didnt get as many as they paid for may stick to plastics and jig heads
A thought is doing minnows seasonally. Think of all those old geezers and their spouses moored in an aluminum jonboat on every stick visible above the water in martin every spring. They ain't fishing jigs.
Might as well just have vending machines then

Stock all the stuff you have to buy online. The jigs and rods that no one is the town sells. The stuff that you use but had to order from grizzly jig. Yea you can go to wally world a buy a bnm bgjp, maybe a pst. but you cant find much more that that. Get with a denali rep or acc crappie stix, or jenko.
If it was me I’d try not to get to much inventory at the start. You can always add as you need it but nowadays it’s hard for brick and mortar stores to make it. So much overhead and online competition. Do a few select specialty items you feel would sell good locally and you could grow from there. Just my opinion.
nope........ bait shop is out i quoted 50 g in work since i opened ac up here this week no need for bait shop at that rate......:biggrin
Great! The only one over there that seems to survive is the river bridge gas station. Probably because they have good prices. Now you can fish when it cools off.
