I'm seeing some gold color in the picture. Did it have a yellow/goldish tint? That could be a yellow bass.
Ospreys love them [emoji6]

Well, I can say for sure it's not a "stripper" :Rofl
But, as has been noted .... due to the yellowish tint & the mismatched lines on the lower half of its side .... it is most likely a Yellow Bass.
Osprey food for sure!!!!
Yellow, I guess! nice pic.
I didn’t notice a yellow tint in the sun. But I can in the pic a bit since someone pointed it out. I Caught it at Butla. I know it is not a white bass. And there’s never been any stripers in there and not supposed to be any hybrids in there. But it looked more like a hybrid than anything when I caught it. But I’ll go with yellow bass now.
I’ve caught a million yellow bass at Eagle Lake. They have really rough scales and tall dorsal fins. And they are yellow. That ain’t a yellow bass.

It’s a yellow bass. I’d never caught one out of the Arkabutla, Sardis, Enid, or Grenada until this yr. Caught 2 this yr on Arkabutla. Kinda odd
Yellow bass... I caught one the other day also.

One of the TWRA lakes I fish here is full of them. I posted a pic on Facebook of a big one I caught and someone asked me if I ate it, I told him it was a trash fish and I left it on the bank and him and a couple other people commented and said they were good eating fish and I should have took it home and cleaned it. I've never thought of tem as anything more than a nuisance, they are a real problem on this little 177 acre lake here. The guy who used to do the fishing reports in the local paper years ago used to write about how big a problem they were in this lake all the time.
I imagine if they ever do stock the big four with strippers they will see even more fishing pressure than they get now. Possibly the likes of which we have never seen before. If I come home with glitter on me I'll swear to the wife it was from a fishing lure.
I have eaten yellow bass, they are very good!! They do not have the size you need around here.
From what I understand stripers do not do well in lakes that experience drastic draw downs. They have a tendency to follow the current and get washed thru the spillway, so you have to keep restocking them. That's the only thing I can think of why the yellow bass haven't established a strong population in the flood lakes. I have seen lakes where they have very high numbers, just wish the white bass would follow the current as well :Rofl
