I'm confused by the description if it's only going to work with Mega+ units. Do you know?
This link will provide more details !

MEGA 360 Imaging is compatible with SOLIX G2 and SOLIX models over ethernet and HELIX G3N models with MEGA Imaging+ and can be shared with HELIX G3N and G2N models over ethernet. It can be directly connected to the following units:
HELIX 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N
HELIX 12 CHIRP MEGA DI+ GPS G3N
HELIX 10 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N
HELIX 10 CHIRP MEGA DI+ GPS G3N
HELIX 9 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N
HELIX 9 CHIRP MEGA DI+ GPS G3N
HELIX 8 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N
SOLIX 15 CHIRP MEGA SI+ G2
SOLIX 15 CHIRP MEGA DI+ G2 CHO
SOLIX 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ G2
SOLIX 12 CHIRP MEGA DI+ G2 CHO
SOLIX 10 CHIRP MEGA SI+ G2
SOLIX 10 CHIRP MEGA DI+ G2 CHO

Brian ... Those compatable units are all Mega + SI and DI units .... Do you know if it connects to the unit using the transducer port... or is it an Ethenet accessory like the original?
Personally I don't see this comparing very well to Livescope. I was really hoping to see Humminbird come out with something to compete with Garmin Livescope.
For me 360 cannot give me Live information or the amount of information that Garmin Livescope can.
I am not biting on this till Humminbird gets their previous software updates perfect for my G2N units. When they brought out the current 360 it is networkable with all their hummingbirds that can be networked. Now they want to do like Garmen and Lowrance and make you buy the G3N + mega depthfinders to run this mega 360 and all they probably would have to do is write the compatible software for the G2N mega models to run it. But maybe I am asking for to much from them as they can’t get their current software perfect. Of course, it’s all about money and they have gotten over 3 grand from me in the past 6 months besides 1500 18 months ago. Done with them! I will use what I have as it works for me catching fish with the software glitches in the 3 depthfinders I have networked with my current 360.
Brian, there is a FAQ on the Humminbird site indicating new y-cables for Helix and Solix models allowing a second transducer to be connected along with the new 360. That makes it sound like it would be a connection to the transducer port on the units? Wes
https://www.humminbird.com/support/f...-time-mega-360
Also from FAQ
Can I connect other transducers at the same time as the MEGA 360?
- Yes
- HW, HW/MEGA DI+, HW/MEGA DI+/MEGA SI+ imaging transducers can be connected in conjunction with the MEGA 360. Built-In MEGA DI+ from a Minn Kota trolling motor can also be connected at the same time as a MEGA 360.
- How does the MEGA 360 connect?
- The new MEGA 360 connects the same way that a conventional 2D, DI, or SI transducer connects.
I stand corrected.... After I attend iCast I'll have all the skinny on the MEGA 360 >Lowrance Trolling motor /Garmin Trolling motor / New MotorGuide trolling motor and more....
Brian
No problem Brian .... Don't think anyone knew all the details til they started rolling them out.
It's total bollocks that they don't make this MEGA 360 compatible with Helix Gen2 MEGA units. There is NO reason why they couldn't except for forcing one to update your head unit. This is leaving a very bad taste in my mouth. I'll never feel the same towards Humminbird after this. I spent thousands about a year ago updating my sonar gear to Helix MEGA Gen2.
Pretty sure they couldn't have it directly connect to a Helix G2 because they weren't far enough along developing the mega 360 at the time they designed the G2 to add the drivers to those models that the mega 360 needs.
I do think they should have made the compatability a LOT wider than they did, and they could have done that by making a seperate driver module available which would make it an Ethernet accessory like the original ... They can still do that if they want .... just need to do a low cost mega + unit by deleting the screen and buttons.
I'm sure they would if they could but patent and copyright aren't going to let that happen for several years, Lowrance some how got a piece of the pie in a negotiated settlement and all they ended up with was an original Panoptix PS31 style transducer with some enhanced features still not a LiveScope display.
Honestly, not much more information then what's on the website. Humminbird will be coming out with 2 new Y cables for matching up transducers with the MEGA 360 system. It's no longer an ethernet connection. It will share the transducer port on your Humminbird.
In addition, 360 imaging can be shared on a G2N unit via an ethernet network.
Ship date will be December.
Brian
So, no box/adapter w/hardware to allow it to connect to Helix G2N units, without having the latest Solix or Helix. kinda sucks, more money.
I almost bought the 360 and ultrex from you this spring. Now I will need a new unit also, to run the mega 360.
Thanks for the info
Well it depends. If you're only running 2 finders (1 G3N and 1 G2N) you won't need the black box (5port Switch) but you will still need the 2 ethernet adapter cables (AS EC QDE) and a single ethernet cable to go between them. The MEGA 360 will connect through a transducer port but be shared across the network through the ethernet connection.
Now, if you have i-Pilot LINK on your trolling motor or a 3rd Gen 2 or Gen3 unit, then you will need the 5 port switch and adapters for each Helix plus and ethernet cable for each Helix to reach the switch.
Brian
When will the mega 360 be available.
We were told December. If you would like to be contacted once they are available, please shoot me an email with MEGA360 in the subject line. [email protected]
Brian
Brian, did you find out anything about maybe what the Mega 360 is going to come with? How long the plug in cable will be? Will it come with gps puck like the gen 1 360 comes with? A Y cable to plug it and a transducer also into? Bet the Y cable is a extra to purchase.
I have a 23 8 Carolina skiff and am going get the ulterra with compatible hummingbird helix units. I see plenty of videos with the live scope which is the better units in your opinion. I fish for almost anything fresh and salt water.
Here are some questions I asked the HB reps about the MEGA 360 and includes their reply....>>
What's in the box with MEGA 360 ?
-10 ft Extension Cable
- 10 ft SOLIX to HELIX Adapter/extension (connector comes standard for SOLIX).
How long will the y Splitter cable be ?
- 30” splitters
Does the short attached cable from the top of the 360 attach directly to the Splitter or will there be an extension cable ?
- Depending on configuration.
- If you want it direct to the SOLIX or Helix and don’t care about using that SOLIX/Helix for another ducer (i.e: trolling motor MDI), you can connect direct with an extension
- If you want to read depth from your trolling motor transducer, you would use the Y cable (1 lead on the splitter going to 360 and the other to Minn Kota’s MDI connector) and then use the extension to bring it to the SOLIX or Helix.
Is the AS GPS HS heading sensor included ?
- Not included. Only needed if you want to overlay waypoints.
Thanks for the replys.
