Good morning everyone. I have a 6'3" UL, a 7' ML, and a 6'6" that I use for crappie depending on the scenario. I also have 4 trolling rods that I use with leadcore that I use to troll for them in the late summer. My question is do i need a 12' rod to verticle jig brush and or trees or is my set up good enough? I want to hear from men/women that had a 12' in their arsenal.
have couple 10's and 12' and YES you do need a new rod. That's like asking your wife if she needs another pair of shoes even tho she hs 50. Answer is always YES.
Kidding aside, there are lots of times you can get to places you can't reach with your 7 foot of course for putting it in just the right tight spots.
Haha, this is true. All my rods are St Croix rods. What would be a good 12' rod to get? I see B & M thrown out there a ton but have no idea on long sticks.

Anyhow, I have several in the 9 to 12ft. lengths. Some for jigging,
some for springtime brush fishing and some for other purposes.
I like Ozark Rods Brush Buster in 10 & 12ft lengths and Light Tip w/ Medium Backbone
in 10 & 12ft lengths as well as the 3pc (10'6" Heavy & 9'6" X-Hvy) Grizzly Jig Elite Rod.
I think the rod is going to depend a lot on how bad the cover is your going to fish. I fish mainly 10 and 11 ft rods. In really thick stuff I like my duck commander 10 ft for the sensitivity and back bone to get them out. For stake beds and deeper water I like my Jenco rear seat in 11ft, and Denali mid seat 11ft. Both have good back bone and great sensitivity. Lots of other choices out there. Best thing if you can is to try a couple of different ones until you find one that is comfortable in YOUR hand not just what I or someone else likes.

Yep you could use a longer jigging pole,but I prefer a 11 ft to a 12ft.The 11 ft just feels better to me and is still plenty long to get where you want.The BnM's are a great choice and they have a ton of different ones to choose from,I like the Ultralite mid seat and Bgjp the best.
I have or have had about everything up to 12’. Had an 18’ that i never used and sold. BGJP’s in 8, 10,and 12’. Have a 10’ SHSS with the rear reel seat that I won and thought I would hate, but just the opposite is the result. I’m not gentle with it and it’s tough, but very lightweight and sensitive. Have caught some pound and a half to two pounders and it did very well, but I don’t swing heavy fish. The BGJP’s work well and do double duty for trolling but the Sams balances so much better. Might not fit your bill but definitely worth a look see.
I past the due I need new rod threshold a long time ago :Rofl I have around 65 rods in the arsenal and will buy another one if he price is right. I could start a tackle store if I wanted. The honest answer is ask yourself how many times have you wished for 12ft jigging rod while fishing. If the answer is more than three the need to buy another rod.
The main reason you need a new rod is, The tackle stores would all close up if you don't keep buying them !! :Rofl

You can always come up with a reason why you need a new rod but the real reason is that you want one.. That always works for me...
All my rods are 10, 11, 12 ,, and have at least a Dozen, But I can fish with only three Max because the Boat is Stick Steering. where you use little poles the only place I can use a small one is under bridges.. I have the choice of another Dozen to find one for shooting docks, but only one for Shooting and an extra in case something gets Broke.. Have you ever reached the tip of the pole down in the water to unhang a Jig hung up on a log or limb ??? longer poles will save you Tackle and time fishing... Ever been tying a new rig to look up just in time to see you Missed that fish that slapped the tip of the pole in the water ---
Everybody needs a new rod.
I have a 12 footer , brand new , never EVEN put a reel on it , sits in the garage with the other stuff I don't need to ketch a crappie !

I got two new rods. One because I have an old reel I've never used sitting in a Drawer. The other for a new reel I bought just to try out. Well now I need another new one. I took that old reel I never used off and put on a Daiwa reel that read's out depth, It was just sitting in the same drawer. Now, it's leaning up against the wall in the bedroom with all my other's waiting to be used! And one of these days I just might get around to it! I don't have collection's like most people, maybe 10 or 15 rod's and reels and only a few I use much! All my rod's are inexpensive. Two new one are Berkley Cherrywood's I got off Amazon for $18 ea. They have all the eyelet's, a reel seat and seem to work alright. With luck one will break and I'll need to buy another new rod I really don't need!
I use pro angler rods and BnM also but pro angler mostly trolling or spider rigging wife got 6'6 i got 8 2 12 ft and 2 14 ft .if you brake it you can but that section also free shipping on all rods
