FEED time ?
On a "live" feed such as live scope what is the feed time ? Another words how quickly do you see an image on the screen of what it sees in real time ?
I am pretty sure live isn't exactly "live" as in it happens at the exact same moment in time but I do wonder for good reason how long it takes for it to display what it is seeing going on .
My very good buddy used one the other day and said some things to me about it that I noticed as well .
So what say you on FEED time ?
and BTW…..LOOKEE what I found me ….
one package on clearance of some really pretty bad boy jigs
of course they "PRO MODEL" so I aint sure if its ok for me to use them.
so please don't tell anyone if I pitch a few in the next day or so :Rofl

On Livescope .... the feed is constant, out to the distance set, so that's about as "live" as it gets. Unlike other sonars, where the screen is "moving" and what's being displayed is mostly "history", Livescope isn't recording that history, but showing the "present" (within the range/width of the sonar ping signal). Basically it's the difference between a stream of snapshots and a underwater camera feed. :twocents
My buddy, slabeye, has one and I've fished beside him and watched fish come to the bait ... sometimes hitting, sometimes not. He's also told me of some of his experiences with it, like when a school of Crappie are hanging around submerged timber and move to the far side of that timber when one of those fish are caught.

Those are great jigs. My favorite non-weedless. Cheap too.

The LiveScope is real time. I sometimes forget I am seeing the crappie dashing to my bit and I set the hook before he takes it completely. I am finally over that and wait for the thump or weight. Those jigs are so bright not sure what is going to bite it!

but what I am getting at is "real" time is not really real time , there is amount of time it takes to process the information to put it on the screen.
this much I am certain of and I wonder how long is that period of time .

With the technology today Ketchen, it's probably milliseconds...like sonar on a ship, or radar is on detecting aircraft...

All's I use LS for while getting to play with it on Ed's boat is the depth the fish are..... after that i'm waiting on that thump..... and that thump is as live as it gets.....LOL

Not sure how "real time" the images are, but I can tell you that if you see a fish rising towards your bait .... DON'T BLINK !! :biggrin

Russel Marine has a video out comparing LiveScope and LiveSource which somewhat answers your question. It was an interesting watch for me. YouTube

It refreshes fast enough, that I can pull the jig away from the fish too early. I did kind of test it with a large spoon, and my movement matched exactly to the screen. My eyes are not fast enough to see the delay.

the reason I asked is my bud said he could feel a bite before the screen showed it
and I noticed the same thing myself .
