Definitely hooked

Well it's y'all's fault, pulling these crankbaits is my favorite way of fishing now lol. I've started buying those high dollar bandit baits, and can definitely tell a difference between them and the off brand ones from Walmart. I bought 4 bandits this weekend, and they outcaught the cheap ones at least by 3 to 1 or more. I went to cypress again, I got there around 8 and left at 12 because the boat traffic was starting to pick up and I had plenty of fish

There goes your retirement plan! I see new trolling motor, new batteries, onboard charges, more crankbaits, crankbait boxes, line counter reels, braided line, new rods, and new rod holders. It only gets better the hotter it gets, so then your going to want umbrellas and a new yeti cooler of course you've got to keep plenty of cold water on hand. My advise, get out while you still can! I've never known anyone who overcame a crank addiction!

I like the bandit 300 and KVD 3XD baits the best so, far.

I'm no expert, and have just started doing it, but I try to keep my speed in between 1.3 and 1.8 mph. But everybody says itll work pulling slower and faster. That's just what I try to stay at

I haven't tried the 300s yet, I've only tried the 200s but I think this weekend I'm gonna try some 300s and see how they do

I've caught fish as slow as 0.9 and as fast as 2.0 mph. You just have to let the fish tell you how they want it.

This is my 4th summer cranking. I believe the Bandits catch better day in, day out. But, I do have other baits that I fish with. And at times, they will outfish the Bandits. Arkie 350's, C-55 hand-painted, and Norman Deep Lil' N.

I fish with everything I got. Somedays even some years they want something ya just don’t think would catch fish.... yet it does. That’s why we need so many baits?

The trolling motor or the rod holder? I tried doing this the other day at Dubuisson. You talk about a mess I had on my hands. I had to literally wipe the rust off of my crankbaits. They were laying down in one of those plastic boxes with little compartments and just the humidity of south la. had rusted everything. I guess I need to get one of those boxes that you hand the baits in. Then, I used my 16 ft spider rig poles. And the wind was blowing pretty good. They got so tangled . :mad: And I didn't get a bite. I probably wasn't going fast enough either. I was only going about .5. Anyway, give me some advice on how to do this.

The i-pilot trolling motor was what I was talking about. Now crankbait fishing... phew. This will be long so bare with me. I think water quality is #1. The fish have to be able to see the bait. I'd say at least 8-12 in. More would be better. #2 is water temp. Above 70 is where you want to be. I have caught some as cold as 60-62. They kinda go hand in hand. What I mean is the fish have to be active enough and to be able to see the bait coming to go get it. Otherwise, you would have to hit them on the nose everytime to get a bite. You can troll crankbaits from Apr-May all the way to Oct-Nov. depending on how cold it gets. I mainly fish 4 types of baits; Bandit 200 & 300's, Arkie 350's and C-55. The 55's I buy from Scott Vance over on the MS board. Bait colors are divided in to 3 categories; chart patterns, natural shad patterns and pink patterns. I use all line counter reels with 10# hi-vis yellow mono with a 3' 20# braid leader. This helps with the gar and catfish. A snap swivel on the end makes bait changes easier and helps with clearing tangles. Line counters help keep the bait in the strike zone. I have one 12', one 10' and 2-6.5" poles on each side of the boat. Longest pole to the front and work to the shortest pole in the back. You need to have them spaced at least 2' vert. and horz. This helps when turning. Speed, color and depth you'll have to let the fish tell you that. I usually start at 1.5 mph and adjust from there. Use your electronics to determine depth from where you mark fish. I look for balls of shad and the fish usually aren't far behind. Hope this helps.

You could use some old bass poles. I hook mine in the driver and passenger seats Make a long cast And proceed to pullin those baits while watching the df. Go as fast as ya like until ya see fish/shad on the df. Then slow down till ya see what happens. I follow the contour of the bank no matter where I’m at and try different depths by length of line out. I start out with 2 baits out and when i get bored i add a 3rd. I have long lined jigs this way. Spinner baits. Rattle traps. Top waters. Once you get hooked it’s over. Fair warning ??
