What do you guys think of someone taking your rod holders out of you boat while you gone to get pickup to load . He took them out of locker that had my life jackets left them.

I hate a thief!
someone siphons about 6 to 8 gallons of gas out of my friends boat in his slip once in a while . it scares me to think that they would be so bold over such little gain .
I get mad about it when I hear about this kind of trash and to be sure they take his minnows and his fish out of his basket sometimes as well .
it is an evil world these days with a terribly high number of humans that are not good humans .
Have to keep everything locked you can’t see.
Lots of low life’s out there these days.

How about young folks that think they are freeing Willy when they dump 600 minnows out of your bait containers. Would like to know who they are so I could discuss respect with their parents.

Vigilance and “watching your six” is the best preventative measures one can take, in these times, where all criminals are looking for unprotected, unaware soft targets.
I guess cant leave anything unlocked for 5 min.

Walking into my local Bass Pro the other day. As I was getting close a truck passed and stopped for a car, I looked in the back of the truck bed and saw a 6' long bolt cutter, You think they were trolling for a boat rig?? There has been whole rigs with the vehicals stolen there. I told the BPS people, I did not get a tag #, it was unreadable. I did get color and name of truck.
I hate to hear this, the thiefs see nice stuff and think the victim is better off than me, not realizing how long it takes most of us fisherman to buy everything we need. I had two dirtbikes stolen, which USAA didnt cover as those need separate insurance than the insurance on the storage unit they were in. I still dont have anymore as replacing them was financially out of the question as an example. I fear so much something else getting stolen that I will not be able to replace.
There is a very easy solution to this problem if you catch a thief. You drop the hammer on them. Dead men will never steal again. If a man is willing to steal from you, then he thinks you owe him something and you or your life means nothing to him.
Had a 25 hp merc stolen from my boat. Was working on the boat and removed the lock so I could do some work on the trailer. Had the motor slid to one side of the transom. Around 1 went in the house to get some coffee. Came back out and the motor was gone. Less than 30 feet from the house in a residental area and no one saw a thing. 20 minutes and it was gone.
Wife had a bad habit of leaving change in the center consul. 2 weeks in a row someone got the change. Put one of those big rat traps in it. Haven't had any change gone missing since.
had my bow stolen from my garage 2 weeks before i was to leave on a bear hunt . the amount of rage that goes through one body when a low life scum steals from them , that was years ago and i still get mad .
I guess i am not only one .sorry to here about motor .A nd they wonder why people get shot.

My son's 1990 GMC Sierra was stolen from Camden, Arkansas, on April 23 from his grandpa's home. Have had a couple of tips, but have not recovered our truck yet. You work hard for what you have and some lowlife takes it away and they have most of the rights.....police told us we'll have to pay all the towing fees and impound fees when and if it's recovered.

Its a distinctive truck so if by some chance anyone sees it out and about.....please call the authorities for us. Thanks. GTT
I keep an eye on my 6 so I can reload them.
Wow guess it dont matter where you are. I was at the ramp today putting things up getting ready to leave. Went to go use the room wife was sitting in the jeep I come out and this idiot had two rods and reels outside the rod locker he left them when i came after him. Wife didnt see or hear him.
No use for a thief.
Hang them

A few months back I was down at the marina boat slips fishing from the dock during the middle of the week around 3:00 pm no one around when here comes a really nice Tahoe type ski boat with two guys and a gal in it. At first glance you would of thought that they were probably okay folks nice boat and look pretty clean cut as they say; but they started cruising up and down behind every one of marinas boat slips behind every boat looking and lurking for something to grab was my thought. I walked out to the back of the boat slip I was fishing to make myself visible and soon as they saw me they were out of there. I gave a heads up to the marina operator in case they seen that boat again they could keep an eye on it; guess that's how they can afford there nice boat probably have a nice little business on Ebay.
My dad had trouble with someone stealing gas cans for his lawn mower right of his porch. He decided to take an old gas can and put some old gas in it along with a bunch of sugar. He also put a trail cam on the porch. Sure enough within a week it disappeared. About a week later he had the sheriff show up at his door asking if he was responsible for putting sugar in a gas can as it ruined some teenagers car. Dad told them someone had stolen several gas cans from his porch and had pictures of someone stealing the gas can from his porch. The kids father wanted to sue my dad for ruining the engine but the sheriff told him if he does then his son would be going to jail for theft. That stopped them pretty fast.

Tell them to walk the plank
Worked for me, I caught a local guide messing with my gear and fish finder. He had to pay $2000 restitution and 100 hours of community service. Also lost his license for a year because I also am a guide on the same lake [emoji1]

Have had multiple items stolen while parking/retrieving boat . Fishing by yourself has it's disadvantages for sure . Things stolen ? Jig pole at Lawlers old store on 32 on Enid . Figured it was someone who knew me well enough that I would take it as a joke if caught . To much glass on store front to be seen . One windy day I parked at Bryant on Grenada and since so many were putting in no place to tie off boat . Stuck paddle in sand and looped rope over it . When I got back paddle gone . After waiting so long to get out of Sardis at Holiday Lodge on Sardis I pulled over and made a dash for the restroom and some jack wagon stole my jig box ! Long time ago in Ackerman a new shiny fly box was taken off the dash downtown ! lol figured very few would not even know what it was .That was when I thought folks only stole things they used . Today's thief is on a higher level of sorry . Guess I am lucky because I did not catch anyone and got my butt kicked !:biggrin one of us would have .
Seems like some people do not care . They want it they take it it a shame.

These horror stories is the reason I got Kena stay with my boat. Had to leave on the water while I took my trailer to weld side board brackets . I did not feel safe welding on trailer with boat on it . But did not feel safe leaving boat unattended . Sad how bad thieves have gotten .
Stealing has got really bad in the past few years and vandalism is getting worse also. I just don't know why they want to ruin things around our lakes and parks.
The level of ignorance of some are amazing . While working as a ranger we got calls about people stealing gas at night at the lake . Crazy thing was that they would cut the hose instead of taking it lose from the tank . Most likely a kid stealing fuel for a jet ski not being familiar with tanks/such .
A buddy of mine has a place at the beach that he visits mostly on weekends. He noticed for some strange reason that the power bill became higher than usual. He took off a few days of work and went to the beach house to prepare for friends coming down to fish for the weekend. He found was his shop door had been pried open and there were several drop cords running from his shop over to the neighbor's bait freezers. Instead of waiting around to confront the neighbor, my buddy went up the road to stay with a friend. He rolled back to his beach house like usual with no drop cords around and his shop closed up. My buddy acted like nothing was wrong, then just before he left, he wired the receptacles in the shop for 220 volts. He changed the locks the following weekend and hasn't had any trouble since.

Thieves are one of the few things that take enjoyment out of fishing. No matter if you have a nice boat or are just throwing a few rods in the bed of your truck your stuff is vulnerable to these low lifes. I make a good living but I am still a very frugal person. Whether I was to lose a $4000 outboard or just a $20 Walmart rod/reel combo I would be furious and it would ruin my day.
I am fortunate enough to have a small tin boat I fish my local horsepower restricted lakes with but as a result of being hp limited, the boat is built light and lacks much storage and really the only lockable storage is my stern hatch which holds my fuel tank, battery, and emergency dry box. My rods, tackle, and other equipment is in the floor. Then I have a couple of decently valued depth finders plus other things like nice quality seats and pedestals, coolers, etc. A quick thief could pretty much clean my boat out in less than a minute if I were in the store or had to go a ways to fetch the truck at a ramp. For this reason I try to avoid leaving my stuff unattended at all. I know some people think I am paranoid, but like I said, if just one small item were to go missing it would infuriate me and ruin my day of fishing.
That's exactly how I am with my kayak.
