Well now that the wind is more reasonable maybe I can get out for a look see! I have a small bridge near me I need to check out.
Skip
Gonna give 'em a try myself!
Very nice! I like seeing that. How much fun would y’all make of me if I got out there on a air mattress?
Nice.....
I'd like to scan on that lake but not no bridgerotfl
Bridge was also good today, water conditions were better than yesterday. Yesterday wasn't bad but the water was clearer today. Didn't keep anything, just had a load of fun catching them.
Not many people fishing today, only saw two other boats fishing. Lake is going down, you can now launch your boat at the marina.
White bass were hitting in the green light tonight, some nice sized ones were caught. Everything caught was released.
bridge fishing for crappie in the shade on a beat down heat of a sunny summer day is pretty fun stuff if you find them stacked up for sure
Yeah it's just unlikely a 3lber or better will come from there......
I'mma BIG fish hunter although the lezzzz fill my thump needer....:biggrin
I just love to catch them, I don't care about the size that much. If you told me that when I fished on a given I had to choose between catching 100 dinks or one 3 lber I would choose the 100 dinks every time. Sure, the 3 lber would give me bragging rights but the 100 dinks would give me a ton of fun. And I will choose fun over bragging rights any day of the week.
The only problem with fishing bridges is that on weekends, holidays and too many summer days you are over ran by the jet skiers, the water skiers and the power boat freaks who just run up and down the lake. They can't read English nor understand common decency and courtesy so they either run up to a bridge and power down right at the bridge, or even worse, run under the bridge at full speed.
Saw several of them pulled over by the GP Police for doing this today. But unfortunately they only chewed them out instead of giving them the tickets their behavior deserved.
It is time to start fishing early mornings and nights to maintain my sanity. :(
HaHaHaHaHaaaaaa, yeah on my boat is time to roll when traffic gets stupid like that....
I usually hit the high traffic areas early and if needed I'll finish my hideaways after the wakers get to the lake....
It is funny how the lakes are different. I have done great at the bridge on Palestine since the spawn was over. Now, the surface water is around 82 degrees and they are now moving out to brush. Not catching near as many there. Would limit out everytime for the last couple months, but now it is hit and miss. Looking forward to getting out with LPA and another guy that is a guide and learning more of the brush pile techniques. But back to the original, it is funny how the different lakes are just that, diffferent. Spawn happens at different times etc. The lakes may be 60 miles apart and when the spawn is over at one, it is starting at another.
black crappie tend to hang to the concrete in the summer months under bridges early in the day . not many folks understand the eating habits real well on the 2 different species . there is a big plankton type thing about 1/4 inch long that likes to hang around under bridges early in the day .
the white crappie love to chase shad herds and often wait in ambush and or rest during the day in piles and along timber edges . knowing more about the crappie will put you on them more frequently .
that said bridges are just a spot to get when its hot and you need shade most of the time in the summer
deep water timber on Palestine would be where I would look myself this time of year
Yep Aquilla was good under the bridge this weekend. 19 foot of water catching them 8 to 10 foot. Wasn't to hot in the shade either. 85 degree surface and a little muddy but it was all good. Game Warden almost swamped the Hobie twice but they still haven't wanted to check me. Three trips now and they just wave as they pass.
