Memorial Day Pond Fishing
I took my son Jacob to a friend’s pond this morning. My buddy says he feeds the fish a lot but doesn’t fish it much. Man his fish were not shy. We caught some good channel cats, bluegill, Largemouth Bass, green sunfish, and hybrid sunfish (bluegill x green sunfish). They were all very aggressive and my son didn’t get bored. Jacob caught his personal best bluegill that was right at 10”. The Tict IceCube got a good work out too. It handled the channel cats like a pro. This was the perfect setup for a young developing angler. He has been working on his knots, baiting his hooks, tying on his own lures and getting fish off his hook. Almost there. I think that by next summer, Dad will get to do a little more fishing and a little less teaching. I’m not sure. That was the first time I fished that pond. We did just get a bunch of rain so I’m hoping that is why is was so muddy. I’m hoping to visit it tomorrow after church.
