I’ve just recently purchased a pontoon, will be using it mostly for pleasure boating with the family but would like to use it to pull cranks this summer too. Those of that fish off pontoons, do y’all use big motor to pull cranks? If not what trolling motor would y’all recommend for a 24 foot pontoon boat?

On my 20 ft pontoon I have run a 80# Terrova for the last 4 years. 2 golf cart batteries last about 6 to 7 hours pulling cranks. Loaded heavy it will pull the boat on high at 3 mph. We usually pull with it on setting 4to5.

I have a24 ft pontoon with a 4 stroke 60hp Yamaha. I pull with the big motor and use buckets to control speed
I've got a 22' with a 115 on it and I use the big motor. Was thinking on getting a 55 lb and mounting on front and steer with big motor like s rudder.
Not a toon, but I do the opposite when running my big motor. I steer with the trolling motor.Quote:

I pull with a 112# 36 volt ulterra on my 22' pontoon. My Yamaha 115 4 stroke is a little too fast. I haven't tried buckets, chains or socks though.
I've got a 80lb Terrova that should be about right that I would sell if interested.
We pull with 90 hp on our pontoon and have a happy troller on it for going with the wind if it's windy.
