Tuesday was a beautiful day that just demanded a trip! We hit the road shortly after 4:00 pm, and headed to the lake, where we were greeted by the summer regulars at the Redneck Riviera! To translate, this dock is famous for sunbathing on the dock and swimming on the ramp! They will move, begrudgingly, to allow you to back your boat in. This is rarely a problem for me as I am fluent in Redneck, but it’s typically pretty funny. After launching among the masses, we made a beeline to the main channel, dodging floating logs that the raising to summer pool always brings. Water temps were 73-74, so I decided on deeper water brush. The first stop, no fish were at home, so time for some scanning. We found some on a favorite waypoint, hanging out in 8-10 ft in 23 FOW. Tuesday’s menu was a Junebug/Chartreuse Slider, and it took some swapping out to find the lure d’joure. When they slowed down, we decided to hit a known spawning bank, and they were there! So to sum it up, some are still partying, and some are moving toward a summer pattern.
No on the water fish pictures today. Sometimes it just isn’t a good idea. I did snap a picture of my two best fishing buddies!
