Welcome to the forum from Brouillette, my last trip there was in February. Every thing around the Black and Red River is high at this time good luck and let is know how you do.

Black is 5 foot high, generally falls very slow. Expecting more rain today. May want to try Lake St John outside Ferriday. About 20 miles from black.
Have they, not I been catching on st john
It just finished raining here 2 1/4" that makes about 13" in the last 3 weeks everything is gonna be high.
Looks like it's a safe year to be a slab.

Welcome from southwest Louisiana! Sorry I can't help you with that area.

Lake St John has a healthy population of white crappy so I would guess if they are finished spawning the fish will be suspended under the shad in the open water. Just look for all of the boats they will tell you were the fish are.
You need to put the App for the National Weather Service { NOAA} on your Phone and Pudder --- It gives 5 day weather -- then there is their Water and River Gauge that will show the water levels for that area -- just click on the Dot on the map that has the name you are hunting -- it shows Pool stage and the Current level
Thanks for the report! BRL is on my list of places to go. Last time I fished it was around 1978.
