I haven't found any yet, but we are very close to them being up based on ground temps.
They appear when the ground temperature at 4 inches deep is 55 degrees and then quit when it hits 62
Free website that gives the ground temps by county: Kentucky Mesonet
It's showing 52 degrees for my area today.
I am finding a few. I have never been any good at finding them. They are up for sure, got some buddies that are finding a lot. They said best year in a long time
Hey Greenfish, Please remember that Saturday March 13 is the beginning of the statewide turkey hunting season. Please be very careful and maybe wear some blaze orange clothing if you go!
They’re up! Father in law just sent me a pic of a sack collected in Adair Co. Lots being picked across the River in southern IL as well.

It's prime time now, just have to find the time to go!
My son is driving me nuts about going mushroom hunting. Problem is, I have no experience doing it...I've looked them up online and it says to find Elm trees or Oak trees. LBL should be lousy with them.
Just a word of Caution -- also glad the picture was posted with what to look for.. There is a mushroom that looks just like what you buy in the store that pretty much only grows under Oak trees --- Two years ago those Mushrooms almost took my life.. when eaten they destroy the Liver completely... and I almost did not get to the doctor in time
With all the logging they've done in LBL the past few years it could actually be pretty good in those logged areas where they left a lot of the tree tops/brush. Even the prescribed burn areas probably would be decent.
If no luck in LBL, try Clarks River Refuge, there are areas of the refuge that are full of swamp chestnut oaks and willow oaks.
