love the drift paddels on my powerpoles for trolling.
but as just an anchor system spotlock hard to beat. Depth of water is big thing. poles are 10ft or less.
If I could get one it would be spot lock or livescope LoL.

So spot lock a bad idea 10ft or less?

Spot lock. I troll 90% of the time and power poles/talons would be in the way constantly.

Spot lock for sure
Spot lock works fine in shallower water but it will keep you in a 5-10 foot circle from where you set it. Power poles in shallow water will hold you still. Power poles are useless in deeper water since they can’t touch bottom. Personally I agree with MR Dux. I troll most of the year as well and power poles would get in the way. Cornfield Crappie’s drift paddle are removable though so when you are finished with spider rigging season, you can take them off your boat

Also, don't expect a 10' power pole to anchor you at 10'. I have mine as low as they can be installed without causing backspray when on plane. They are 8' and if the water is deeper than 5' i typically can't even touch. a 10' pole might anchor me at 7'. For my waters, the PP is almost useless. only a few places i fish i even turn them on during the day. I use my spotlock every day regardless of where i fish including when i take trips to fl although if i lived there, i would probably opt for the PP if i had to pick.
The poles would be useless for me perch fishing in 47 ft water or even crappie fishing in fifteen. Spotlock will work no matter how deep your fishing. If all you want to do is shallow fish bass or bluegills the poles would be okay, as long as the water is shallower than ten foot maybe.
