We got into them this weekend too around Dunn’s Creek..
Nice trip.
Good deal. Have a group trip to highlands park coming up the 17-19 of May. Need to get over there and start hunting them up.
Good bag of fish there. Had a redbelly try to rip the rod out of my hand this morning, and he wasn’t but 7” long. Them things are tough. Haven’t kept any yet 8this spring but that’s about to change.
Found a few more on the flats using a Carolina rig setup. Was going to get a guide but things came up so learning by practicing and asking a few questions. Attachment 338652

Here's a tip for ya one of the local long time guides gave me.. go buy you a bag of hog feed pellets or cattle range cubes or gar roe if you can get it.. bait up just outside the pads, right where the drop is.. wait about 30 min and start reeling them in... You'll have cats mixed in too( which me and the kids like), but those red breast will come right in
Another thing I've learned on the river.. wait for an outgoing tide, always go with the current, and trolling for crappie 2-3 ft - 6 inches depth
This is what it’s all about, one of my grandkids loves fishing. But about two hours is almost max. As we will be coming down for many years to come it’s a great start! Attachment 339726

I had the opportunity to fish with my neighbor Jim yesterday along with a guide and had a great time. I asked on here and Jim had found the name of someone he was told was good . That person was the same and it was Captain Mike Huff aka Crappie Whisperer. If ANYONE would like to learn more about fishing the Saint Johns River area or just plain Florida Georgia area I would highly recommend Mike. He can be reached here aka Crapppie whisperer or [email protected] Great teacher and fishermen here are two pics of my Florida friend and Mike and the size of those we caught( 35plus)fish .Attachment 340364Attachment 340365
