Big fish day @ LP 04 05 19

4 or 5 CNBGs at or above the 11" mark. Need to get a new board - missing the old green one. Fished 24 to 27 FOW with the surface temp @ 63*F. 1st double had an 11" and the last fish was an 11". I found a point where mixed fish are stacked up along timber... Close to 19' but the fish were suspended in the deeper water.

Great pics Sonny!! A heavy fish day for sure. Hope to find some this week, got a taste for a bluegill sammich.

Those gills are beasts. Amazing how you can find them with all the extra water in the lake compared to when I was there last. Looking forward to a shot at some of those later this month.Probably sprain my wrist the way gills that size pull.

Jim - last time you were out here it was a puddle, now it's a pond. You are going to REELY like this new spot - wish I would have fished this area harder last year. My last 12" CNBG was caught here in October. Hopefully we can get a day or two at Havasu.

Havasu for the redear, Perris for the giant gills. Either way you can't go wrong. Haven't seen many pics of redear from Perris yet. Where are they?

Thinking about the board Jim...…. Redear should be up in the shallows with the Bass - hard to get away from the CNBG to go look.

Sonny, I have a go pro that I bought a couple years ago that I still haven't gotten around to using. I need to put some time in with it and learn how to use it. I will then pack it away for my trip there. Those gills need to be filmed in action. I caught some 8-9 inchers a couple days ago and a few I couldn't stop and ran me into brush piles. The 11-12 inchers you catch look very intimidating to me right now, especially around trees. Don't know how you manage to get them out once they wrap you up with 2lb. lines. That's quite a feat.

JJJ - lot of the success comes from getting the CNBGs head turned up. If they go down it's going to be even more difficult. I back down, with minimum pressure on the fish. Sometimes the fish will swim out on it's own. Without a boat or a float tube - over 50% of the fish couldn't be landed. Branches are breaking with the old flooded trees - the new flooded trees are still green and jig hungry.
