Has anyone used a casting bubble to throw a light crankbait? If so, did it work well. I have only used with jigs.

1 7/8 long 1/8 oz crankbait. Need more distance.
Yes, all logical answers. Long story short... I will be using on 1 rod for about 2-3 hrs tops. Then probably never again. So I didn't want to make it an ordeal with changing line etc. Just saw the bubbles in the tackle box and I wondered if anybody has done it.

Buy one and give I a try. Worst thing can happen is a line tangle.
Lead weight, split shot. Easy on, easy off when done.

Fill that dude up 1/2 way with water and let that rocket go.:fish
That's going to be my first attempt so i can get a real life answer. Then I will try a small sinker held by a split shot for comparison. I might have a new way to use small cranks [emoji6]

I don't see why it wouldn't work. A weight in front of a crankbait will make it run deeper than if you used the Adjusta Bubble. So I guess it depends on how deep you want the bait to run.
BTW: When I lived in New England (Mass & NH) I used that same bobber for everything for which I fished. I remember a day on the Nissitissit when we found a school of Yellow Perch and tore them up with yellow foam spiders about 2' behind the bubble. Two of us must have had 100 fish on in an hour or so. Fun times.
That might be an added feature. The lure runs 6-8' deep. If I should find the fish in 6 fow, then I SHOULD be able to adjust the casting bubble to keep the dive to less than 6'. This is just an experiment. A couple fellow crappie guys swear that this body of water's crappie will only hit jigs. I am out to prove them wrong on Saturday. :biggrin
seen it used with deadly results on stocked trout many times and that's the only times I ever seen them used .
The experiment is now over. We started the day finding fish on flats in 7 and a 1/2 fow. I adjusted the bubble to only allow a 4ft dive. 17 crappie later we were forced to move off the flats into deeper water where the double jig rig took over. At the end of the day the ratio of jigs vs bubble/crankbait was about 50-50. That casting bubble and crank setup helped us get the firts place trophy and payout. YES IT DOES HAVE A USE WITH CRANKBAITS!
